Subject: FTE Pre61 - More brake questions Now I've installed a 9" rear, the next in the chain of events is that with a smaller brake shoe I'm having to stamp on the brake pedal so much more that I will need power brakes. At the same time, I would like to change from a single circuit to a dual circuit brake system. Any ideas on a good kit that's available? Looked a little like my panels tank at first. My local parts store didn't have any luck crossing the CR number to National. Can anyone give me an interchange number or a supplier for a CR 14223-3 pinion seal? The rear end is from my '50, but may not be original. Gear ratio is 3.73. Thanks, Randy == FTE: Uns*bscribe and posting info http://www.ford-trucks.com/faq.html ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 5 May 1999 19:53:22 -0700 From: "Vierra, William BGI SF" Subject: FTE Pre61 - Compression test question In investigating the troubles with my 302 to determine to rebuild or replace it I had a strange compression test. All cylinders except no. 8 are between 160 and 170. Number 8 is at 120, I then added some oil to number 8 and the pressure went to 100. This has not happened to me before in past tests on other motors the pressure either stays the same or goes up. If it had stayed the same it would seem there is some valve trouble. So now I am perplexed. Tomorrow I will take off the valve cover and see what I can from there. I had planned to rebuild the motor next month but other expenses are seeming to get in the way. == FTE: Uns*bscribe and posting info http://www.ford-trucks.com/faq.html ------------------------------ End of pre61-list-digest V3 #129 ******************************** +- Ford Truck Enthusiasts - 1948 - 1960 Trucks and vans --------------+ | Send posts to pre61-list To access the rest of this feature you must be a logged in Registered User Of Ford Truck Enthusiasts
