Just to add my two cents worth about door adjustment. I used a cab off of a
'50 F-7 fire truck for my '49 F-2. The fire truck had a bad quality
original paint job. Think it was shipped to the fire truck manufacturer in
black primer and they applied a cheap paint. The doors also did not fit
right. I had to break the welds on the hinges and use a port-a-power to
push the door frames diagonally to get them in the proper shape so the doors
would fit.

I am considering purchasing such a truck. Did a stake bed version ever come
from the factory? Did some company produce these beds for a specific
purpose? If not, does this mean that the bed is only someone's customization?

I used to own a '50 with a telephone truck repair bed, and I am wondering if
a stake bed was a similar modification, either by Ford or a bed manufacturer.

Thanks for any help.

The company which used to go by the name of Todd Murthum
Reproductions, Sterling Heights, MI (he may now be Northern Classics?)
advertises a "37-56 Ford Stake Truck Bed, licensed by Ford. All Oak and
Maple construction as original. Stamped for script as original ... correct
fasteners as original." Makes it sound like they once came from the factory.
The telephone number on my several-year-old catalog is 810-254-2835.
