Everyone seems to have abandoned them and tossed the hardware. Does anyone have a source? I'm sure that most anything will fit if one has a welder to modify supports, etc., but I don't have a welder, so I was trying for one to line up with the stock support areas. The drive train behind the radiator would be a c6 automatic, with an engine in the 351 to 400 inch range by the way. Thanks, Paul == FTE: Uns*bscribe and posting info www.ford-trucks.com/faq.html ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 16 Sep 1998 16:52:59 -0400 From: Paul Subject: FTE Pre61 - Upgraded wiper motor replacement I upgraded my wipers to a 12 volt Dennis Carpenter kit, and I wondered if anyone knew what the model of the wiper motor was in these kits (I imagine everyone sells the same kit?). I recall mine was a foreign name, I believe Bosch. The question would be... I want to install the engine with as little smog devices as possible.. or none at all.. I would like to remove the '79 distributor and place an older points type of distributor to eliminate the need of other smog devices and the computer module. What year 351 point distributor or other distributor would be recommended? - -- Tulio Solorzano >> I don't think that the 79 engine will have a computer that controls the engine. It will have an electronic ignition module (that could be defective or close to it)! It probably has an air injection system and a catalytic convertor, but those are easy to omit. An old "points type" distributor will work, but points will never give you the performance of the electronic system. I'm sure the 351 you are talking about is a Windsor. Any old 351 (or maybe any 289 or 302 -- help me on this one guys) will work. Let us know what you do. It is not a 9" rear I'm sure. It even looks like a 12 bolt! although I haven't counted the bolts. I have noticed this type of rear in a lot of new Fords including the latest F-150's. What is this rear called? Also, I got a reply from one of the list members about a recall of the new F-150's concerning the exhaust outlets in front of the rear wheels. They said the exhaust was corroding the wheels. This makes sense, but what about you out there that have this type of set up? Are you having this problem?
