I used a mid 60 Mustang tank mounted in a 1" tubing frame. It has a top filler hole which works out with an inbed filler. the sending unit mounts in the front end of the tank (read easy access). There is also a Isuzu Trooper tank what will work well but will use a left side hose filler. Check out the FTE web page under misc contributions. Look in the indexes for the CustomTruck and Classic&Custom Truck for the articles on installation. There are several good paint by number articles that will lead you thru the process. Michelle (FTE group person) has done the Isuzu install and she said it worked great. Maybe she can give you some shortcuts also. Hope this helps, let me know if you have any questions. john == FTE: Uns*bscribe and posting info www.ford-trucks.com/faq.html ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 03 Sep 1998 06:51 -0400 (EDT) From: jniolon Subject: FTE Pre61 - Pigeon Forge-99 Does anyone know the exact dates in May for the '99 show. I'm assuming its May 13-16, but just as soon as I plan that weekend it will be the week later.. == FTE: Uns*bscribe and posting info www.ford-trucks.com/faq.html ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 03 Sep 1998 10:14:13 -0400 From: Ken Payne Subject: FTE Pre61 - ADMIN: Clarification on the spammer There seems to be some misunderstanding about the spammer. Several list members have emailed me and basically said they're afraid of posting because of this. It appears that somehow they thought that the spammer got email addresses from the mailing lists. ****** This is completely incorrect!!! ****** The subscriber lists are on a protected directory on our server. That cannot be retrieved by anyone but myself and Keith Srb (performance list admin). The spammer took email addresses from the pictorial of the web site, not the lists. If you don't have a truck on the pictorial, you didn't get the spam. Measures are being put in place this weekend to make it alot harder for spammers to retrieve addresses from the web pictorials. With the exception of my admin email addresses, all email addresses on the web site will have *spamremove* inserted in them. This will make yourname yourname*spamremove* this will bounce back to the spammer unless they remove this spam blocker from every single address. To date, we have had no cases of automated harvesting from the lists. The reason is because its too slow and not cost effective for the spammers. The lists are my babies, and the performance list is Keiths. I assure you that both of us would never make it easy for spammers. A good freind of mines wife all most died in an accident in their 53 for last week, someone t-bone her on the drived side, and the gas tank blew up, she is has burns but luckily nothing live threatening, so beeing i in the midly of a frame off restoration, i was think i might like to move the fuel tank from under the cab, i would appreciate any input > David I too have considered this since I'm also in the middle of an off-frame re-build. And, my tank is in the cab. I talked to several owners at the nationals, some would not change the tank...said it's been there for over 40 years etc., one fellow told me his had a tank from a suzuki samari (sp) that it fit between the frame rails perfect. Others spent about $400 or so for a custom alumimum tank from places like No Limit engineering. Most of the aftermarket catalog guys sell the no limit tanks. It would be nice to hear from someone out there who has done this for less than the big bucks. ON THE INSTALLATION OF A TOYODA POWER STEERING GEAR BOX INTO MY '53 FORD F-100. INFORMATION THAT WOULD BE HELPFULL IS HOW MUCH OF THE STEERING COLUMN NEEDS TO BE CUT OFF. WHICH PORT ON THE STEERING GEAR IS PRESSURE? WHICH PORT IS DRAIN? WHAT IS THE CORRECT LENGHT OF THE ORIGINAL STEERING GEAR SHAFT. I PLAN ON USING STOCK COLUMN, SHAFT AND STEERING WHEEL. I HAVE A 302 FORD ENGINE INSTALLED FROM A '73 MAVERICK, AND NEED RECOMMENDATIONS ON A PUMP? HOW DO YOU CENTER THE PITMAN ARM ON THE STEERING GEAR BOX? I WOULD RATHER LEARN FROM EXPERIENCE THAN RE-INVENTING THE WHEEL. DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THERE IS A F-100 TRUCK SHOW AT LAKE LURE, NC THE WEEKEND OF SEPT. 26, 98? PLEASE RESPOND TO GARY.FRANZ THANKS == FTE: Uns*bscribe and posting info www.ford-trucks.com/faq.html ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 03 Sep 1998 11:40:39 -0400 From: Ken Payne Subject: Re: FTE Pre61 - FYI on new book to be released soon At 10:19 PM 9/2/98 -0700, you wrote: >Just got a new mail-order catalogue from a company specializing in >automotive books. They sell a universal tank that fits your truck and I believe the price is $239.00. You probably have to buy the fuel sender separately. I've heard that a the gas tank from an 85 Mitsibushi truck fits, but I checked it out and I didn't care for it because it looks to small & "fat". Hope this helps.
