The Lincoln Versailles had a 9 " rear with disc. as did the Lincoln Mark series. The Mark series Axel is very wide and has to be narrowed before they can be used in mid fifties Ford trucks, as the Versailles Axel is just about right. I think the 175 dollars is not out of line for the entire set up if it is a Versailles axel. I have a Versailles axel under my 56, and it makes a neet installation. Subject: FTE Pre61 - 53 F350 for sale Good morning, I've been a follower of this list for several months now and I've learned a lot. I have a 55 F100 with a 392 v2 and C4 auto. I bought the truck last fall and am now ready to start working to make it street safe. My first question is - has anyone used the IFS cross member from Gibbon in Nebraska? It looks good in their catalog but would like hear from someone who has installed one. While driving around looking for a tail gate and running boards I found a 53 F350 in excellent shape. The truck is all there and was running when parked. Its a 6 cyl. four speed, side mount spare, step type rear bumper, the metal is near perfect. My wife was with me or I might have looked at for myself. Its for sale and located here in central Iowa just off the Interstate. The owners phone is (515)987-9703 or E-mail me and I'll tell you what saw. I would hate to see a truck this nice and complete decompose under a tree. Thanks in advance for any help on the IFS cross member. Don Cavanaugh sqljoh By the way my truck is named Uncle Buck. You need to see the movie to understand. == FTE: Uns*bscribe and posting info www.ford-trucks.com/faq.html ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 9 Jul 1998 12:28:12 EDT From: Justchev Subject: Re: FTE Pre61 - 53 F350 for sale i've seen the movie and i understand lol == FTE: Uns*bscribe and posting info www.ford-trucks.com/faq.html ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 09 Jul 1998 23:10:34 -0400 From: Mick Price Subject: Re: FTE Pre61 - Lincoln 9" rear MichellHC > > John, let us know which Lincoln rear it is. The calipers are tough though, I rebuilt them a year ago and one of the e-brakes stuck the other day blessing me with a glowing red rotor after I smelled something unusual. I willl now pay the piper and get rebuilt calipers from NAPA for about $125 each. The full size Lincoln is quite a bit beefier than the Versalleis, which was built on the Monarch chassis - right? The glovebox door is not original and the ID tag does not match all the back registrations that came with it. Not only is a different color than the truck, but the ID tag is srewed on instead of riveted. I need to register it in CA and I was wondering if there is another place that I can find the VIN for the truck before I visit my friendly nieghborhood DMV. It hasn't been registered for so long that it is off the system and they need to confirm the VIN before I can register it and begin to drive it. I really don't want to go there more than I have to! Any help is appreciated! I was also wondering if anyone knew of a way to download any pics for the wallpaper behind my windows 95. I found some killer surfing ones that I'm enjoying but I'd love to open up and see a beautiful truck just to inspire me!
