I have seen a lot of people posting about using the original metal but I may need to go with an aftermarket one piece. I have a 60 F-100. What manufacturers should I look at? What kind of problems are involved in the project and how will it affect the streetability of the truck? I would like to drive this truck on a semiregular basis and some of it will be highway. Do the fiberglass noses tend to vibrate or shimmy in the wind or are they a bit sturdier than that? Any and all info on what needs to be done or what problems I would run into would be appreciated. Greetings everyone, I have some general questions for everyone. I have a 60 F-100 fleetside and I am looking to do some customization. Can anyone give me advice on what tilt steering columns work well? What year model truck split bench seat fits nicely? What gas tank will fit nicely under the bed (and where along the frame rails they fit best? Also, what is the best master cylinder/vacuum booster combo for this truck? I have an 83 302 to install and wonder about clearance. I am going to need to install the brakes long before the engine goes in though and want to make sure I am not causing myself any headaches. I am also looking for a tailgate. Damned if I can find anything to replace the original. The only aftermarket stuff I see is for the stepside beds and none of the trucks in the local salvage yards have beds on em. Has anyone had any experience switching to aftermarket stepside beds? Were these even available on the original 60 truck? Are there any known tonneau covers or bed liners that will fit the original fleetside bed? I guess that will be plenty of fodder for responses. I will appreciate any info you folks can provide. Later. You can't miss it, the show is next to it and there's a bazillion trucks on front lawn in front of it. This meeting will be at 10:00am Saturday the 16th. The meeting will be informal and I plan to be there from 9:40 until we decide to head out. Bring a lunch and drinks, we'll find a place where we can go as a group to munch before and during the 12:00 parade of trucks. Sorry we don't have solid plans but the town will be packed and every restaurant laughed at us when we asked to reserve a table for 30+! How will we recognize each other? Simple... point your web browser to http://www.ford-trucks.com/pigeonforge.html This page is simply a small text box you can print and pin to either your shirt or hat. Its small enough not to look goofy yet large enough to be easily recognized. It says: FORD TRUCK ENTHUSIASTS TRIED, TRUE AND FORD BLUE - - ------------------------- Line is for putting your name there. If you do not have a printer, simply put "Ford Truck Enthusiasts" on an index card and pin it to your shirt. I plan to glue my printout to an index card and pin it to my shirt. Stauffer" Subject: FTE Pre61 - Original turn signals Greetings, Some questions about the turn signals mounted on the front fenders. I always thought the old trucks (the cheap stripped down models) came with out turn signals and they were added as the various states toughened the inspection laws. Now I am beginning to think otherwise. Were they a dealer installed item? I was planning to have my turn signals in the parking lights. I already have the 2 filament socket and bulbs. If one wants to be original should the turn signals be on the fenders or not (for the non-deluxe cab version)? Also, McLaughlin's book "48-56 Ford pickups" says that only a left tail light was standard. A right taillight was an option. Were rear turn signals in the tail/brake lamps in the trucks so equipped? Can any more-experienced guys with good memories or guys with good books help me?
