Don't know if its fact or not. Even so, we can still have a get together for lunch. Looks like theres a new giant in the automotive industry. This came from an email from The Car Connection. http://www.ford-trucks.com//lc/lc.php?action=do&link=http://www.thecarconnection.com - ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- It’s a Done Deal! The world now welcomes a New Auto Giant - DaimlerChrysler. Details of the merger between Chrysler Corp. and Daimler-Benz were announced this morning in London by Chrysler Chairman Robert J. Eaton and Daimler-Benz Chairman Juergen E. Schrempp. The transaction, valued at $92 billion, is the largest industrial merger ever consummated. The new firm, DaimlerChrysler will rank No. 5 among world auto makers, behind General Motors, Ford, Toyota and Volkswagen. Catch a brief summary of the news conference, plus quotes from the two chairmen, later today. Keep returning to our site, as new material will be posted continuously throughout the day and into the weekend. - -Ken = Ford Truck Enthusiasts ============================================== Send posts to: pre61-list Send unsubscribe requests to: majordomo "unsubscribe pre61-list" in the message body. ======================================================================= ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 07 May 1998 10:39:42 -0600 From: Randall Colgan Subject: FTE Pre61 - Outing Date: Wed, 06 May 1998 07:51:50 -0400 From: Ken Payne Subject: FTE Pre61 - Ford Enthusiasts Gathering? Forwarded to all the lists for: From: Gary Callahan Please cc all replies to him! Thanks. I live in southern California and have been a member of this list for over six months now. I have enjoyed it very much. I have posted questions and replied to other postings. I have an idea I'd like to put forth for concideration. I think it would be great fun to get together with other members of this list for a weekend outing. I think we could pick one of the trips from Harry Lewellyn's "glovebox" book on backroad trips in southern California or if anyone knows of another good day trip in the area. I think it would be best to limit it to a one-day event for now. We could all meet at a predetermined location, drive the scenic backroads to a nice spot for a potluck lunch, then home a different route. Let me know what you all think of this idea. After all the Jeep owners have their Jeep Jamboree. Why can't we have a gathering as well. Send (or post) your thoughts to me soon, the summer will be over before you know it. For quickest response reply to my e-mail at work. Gary Callahan '81 F-150 Custom 4x4 (400cid I-6 w/4-speed) GCallahan callah I think this is a great idea! How about we all meet in Edmonton Canada later this summer. It's just a short trip from the US. For those of you that want to meet this month, perhaps we could even take in an Edmonton / Dallas hockey game! Opps. Sorry. All tickets are gone. If it wasn't for this list my six year old would probably have the cherry GMC that was for sale next door. (Thank my Higher Power for that one ) I have a quick Question for thoughts. Has anyone tried / experienced / known anyone / etc. that has used the mono leaf springs? I want to keep my '54 as close to original as possible but.......... I want to lose a few inches off the height. The 223 six is almost finished with its rebuild and I'm looking into the future for the next step. Let's hear any debates, cuz I'm still open to thoughts. (-: If You take a 1N4002 diode and insert it between the ground lead of the regulator and system ground, it will fool the regulator into putting out 6.6 volts instead of 6 volts. If You stack 2 diodes in series it will raise the output voltage to 7.2 volts. 3 diodes would give 7.8volts... The diodes are available at radio shack, $.49 for 2 pcs. *PLEASE NOTE* If you use the diodes in series with the ground lead, You MUST use insulating hardware to keep the case of the regulator from being grounded to the heatsink (or anything else). I put the circuit for a 6.6 volt regulator up at: http://www.ford-trucks.com//lc/lc.php?action=do&link=http://www.sonic.net/~sdelanty/show-n-tell/6v6reg.jpg Steve http://www.ford-trucks.com//lc/lc.php?action=do&link=http://www.sonic.net/~sdelanty/ When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro. -- Hunter S.
