I have enjoyed it very much. I have posted questions and replied to other postings. I have an idea I'd like to put forth for concideration. I think it would be great fun to get together with other members of this list for a weekend outing. I think we could pick one of the trips from Harry Lewellyn's "glovebox" book on backroad trips in southern California or if anyone knows of another good day trip in the area. I think it would be best to limit it to a one-day event for now. We could all meet at a predetermined location, drive the scenic backroads to a nice spot for a potluck lunch, then home a different route. Let me know what you all think of this idea. After all the Jeep owners have their Jeep Jamboree. Why can't we have a gathering as well. Send (or post) your thoughts to me soon, the summer will be over before you know it. People have different ideas as to how much extenstion they want and few would go want to do the work because it is not a easy job. I extented mine 10 inches and that is only enough for extra leg room and allow you to install reclineing seats. Mike Chesser has a truck that he extended 14 in. and it would allow you to install jump style seats in the cab, but they are only big enough for small children. As for what I did, I used heavier guage sheet metal and made six sections to build the extension. 1-one floor, 2- two bottom side pieces, 3-two top side pieces, 4-one top piece. I added some 1 inch square tubeing under the floor and added tubeing where I cut the ribs inside the cab. The rest was hammer and dolly work as well as using a mig welder to attach it all together. If I was to extend another from scratch I plan on getting two cabs and cutting the front off the one that I decided to use for the back. Make sure to get as much of the roof and floor as possible and not cut off any of the door opening area as this will help in the next steps. Decide how much extenstion you want and cut the floor of the back cab now and prepare the edge to weld. Next I would attach the back to the front cab and use temporary braces to get the correct geomentry for the rear section. Weld the floor to the back of the front cab at the same level as the front . After I had everything square I would proceed to cut the back out of the front cab and any of the door area on the back cab that would interfere with adding sheet metal . From this point I'd start working on the sheet metal of the roof and get it correct before anything else. After the roof was complete the rest is just a matter of forming and adding sheet metal and welding it on. I believe that I would leave the doors on at all times to ensure that the door gap stays correct and there will be some additional metal under the cab that will have to be added as well on the floor where the corners of the front cab will have to be removed. It may not be the best way, I'm not a professional , but that is how I would try it next time..
