The wiring came from Sac. Vint. Ford. The gauges on the 51' did the jump/pulse bit until I found a short in both the cigarette lighter, and the gauge panel itself. The cig. lighter needes to be replaced all together, but the trouble with the gauges was the instrument voltage regulator for the 6-12volt drop. It to came from Sac. Ford, but had no instructions as to mounting. I screwed to the back of the panel and went on with the rewiring. Well for some reason it caused a short and the gauges jumped/pulsed. I removed the I.V.R. from the back of the panel and left it hang in air via a quick tie. No more jumping/pulsing gauges. Hope this helps! Chief2658 P.S. If think Sac. Vintage Ford is the best for parts. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 17 Feb 1998 23:35:31 EST From: Chief2658 Subject: Re: fordtrucks-digest V2 #42 Joe Bob Check out the Job Lot in upper state New York. They had brake drums being made over seas for 1948-56 Ford F series trucks. Good luck. I put a 289 in a 59 F100 and scrounged the junk yards for a driver's side manifold too. I think it was from an LTD or other full sized Ford mid 70's. It exited straight back towards the firewall and I was able to make the pipe exit above the steering box. I hope this helps! Thanks to all of you on the list! You are the only thing that made me hold out and buy my 6 year old a 54 F100 instead of the cherry 54 GMC around the corner. The F100 is a serious project but we will have fun with it for the next decade or two ;-) Now I have my own war going because my 8 year old has a 1940 Ch**y 2 door sedan that I gave him. Fun for all kids of any age!!!!! thanks again Conor ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 18 Feb 1998 00:39:41 -0400 From: Ray Cardogno Subject: Re: fordtrucks-digest V2 #43 >Subject: Color of '54 grill > >What color was the grill on the 1954 F-100?????
