I paid about $500 too much but it was the truck I was looking for in descent condition. I didn't mind paying the extra since they don't make em anymore. What I did before I went up was to ask for numbers from the truck tags, a faxed copy of the title, and a video showing all possible areas of the truck. This worked well and gave a real good picture of the condition. I sent the person $5.00 to do all this and he did a good job. Of course when I got there I found a few things that couldn't be seen on the video but they weren't major things and since I'll be doing a complete restoration some little things (small dings, wrong steering wheel, etc) aren't too bad to deal with. One thing though, if you do buy one long distance make sure you remove any loose chrome, mirrors, etc that might come loose and fall off on your way home. These are some of the more costly and hard to locate items. Good luck. I know that the best way is to go up there and see it before you buy it, however if the vehicle is several hundred miles away, one needs to be absolutely sure that that is the vehicle you want and need before you travel to see it. Sometimes it isn't cost effective to even do that. So, any advice? Joe Joe, i think you are smart to think like this. if it is that far away you should request many good photos or a video tape is preferable. most people at least know someone with a camera. if they want to sell they will get what you request. if they don't, i would blow it off and look somewhere else. old ford trucks are not rare and many are still used on a daily basis. this is a testament to the durability. you should also rethink about buying something that is so far away. if going to look at it is a burden, bringing it home will be more of a burden. trucks are like buses. if you miss this one, don't worry. there will be another that comes buy in a few minutes. plus the one that got away always makes a good b.s. story when yur talkin trucks.
