Thanks, Lee ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 1 Oct 1997 08:53:28 -0500 (CDT) From: Bruce Dunne Subject: New to F100 with some questions Hello All: I apoligize if this message appears twice; I sent it 2 days ago and it has not yet shown up, so I thought I'd try again. I recently became the owner of a '53 F100 when my brother decided to part with his hobby. Fortunately, the truck is in pretty good shape, but just about anything that could leak fluid does, so I want to get around to fixing some of them, but my experience is somewhat limited. I have lots of questions, and I would welcome any free advice, so I'll start with the following: The steering gear box leaks - is there a gasket that I can replace easily that will stop that? There is a small leak in the gas tank - how much do replacement tanks cost, or should I just get this one repaired? The feedback I got about upgrading to a dual master cylinder seems to buy a bracket which will allow mounting a 67-71 Maverick drum/drum dual master cylinder. Anyone done this - where is the best place to get the bracket? I need to do the front brakes, and it seems that maybe the front drums are too thin to turn - what other years can I salvage another set of drums from? Is there a kit to add safety belts, even shoulder belts? Thanks for all the help, BED dunne ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 1 Oct 1997 10:59:28 -0400 From: "Neal B. Forbes" Subject: RE: engine match up To Dick--the engine bay held a YBlock as the stock engine, the data plate in the glove box will tell which one. Just about any modern Ford V8 will fit into the bay. There are lots of aftermarket mount kits. Most guys pick the 302 or the 351C. Modern AOD trannies will also fit and transmission mounts are sometimes called for. These are also available in the catalogs. The only other decisions are the driveshaft (it will have to be cut and balanced) and the rearend to use. Usually one uses the rearend that came with the motor. It you get your parts from a yard, buy the whole drivetrain from a vehicle with reasonable mileage. If you want a lot of accessories, use a lurury car for your donor, it will have a HD alternator. It looks like they're ok now but that's the reason why many of you didn't get list mail yesterday. Ken ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 01 Oct 1997 22:03:19 -0400 From: Ken Payne Subject: ADMIN: Window stickers, complete information and answers. Here are the answers to everyone's questions: 1. Stickers are one color: white on a clear background. I choose white instead of Ford blue because Ford blue won't show up on many windows with tinting. 2. Stickers cost me $140.00 for 100, making them a $1.40 each. Price drops after 100 as the initial price includes screen setup. 3. Company is here in Atlanta, send me private email if you want more info. Net searches on bumper sticker printing will give you local information if you'd rather handle it that way. 4. I'm giving them the design on disk as a JPG formated file. 5. Preliminary sticker design is on the web site. http://www.ford-trucks.com Go to the bottom of the page and you'll see the link. Sticker design is simple and to the point. Perhaps in the future they'll get colorful. I'm open to suggestions and submissions for the current sticker but it has to stay one color or the cost goes up. 6. Sticker size is 12" x 3". 6. I'm selling them for $3.00. This includes shipping. Money will go to support the web site/list expenses. Some possibilities for an additional list are in the works. The 1980+ list is getting rather large, bigger than the other two lists combined. Let me know if anyone has suggestions (such as a SUV list). 7. Send a check or money order is: Kenneth Payne FTE, Attn: Sticker P.O. Box 422 Lilburn, GA 30048 Allow 2-3 weeks for shipping. Stickers will go to press this Monday. 8. After first 50 ship, I'll send out the freebie stickers.... To access the rest of this feature you must be a logged in Registered User Of Ford Truck Enthusiasts
