I didn't have alot of time but talked to Joe and walked through his yard. A good selection of 60 and up trucks, a few 50's and older I did spot a good crome grill off a 59. Most of the older stuff is picked through, although he admits he has pulled alot of parts off himself, so you need to ask. A good slection of cars, alot of t-birds. Like I said, I did'nt have alot of time and I was'nt dressed for a junk-yard and it was snowing. If your in the area stop by, I plan on going back when I have more time and its Warm outside. I'm not sure if this is the way to get a question online, but here goes. I have a '57 F-100. Parts are very hard to find. I am now trying to merge a '59 or '60 model front fender with the front corner of my old one (the parking lamp!!!). I would like to put an IFS, power disc brakes (all around?), a V8 and auto trans, and maybe even A/C in the future. My question is: Why can't I use late 70's to middle 80's Ford midsize and full size car or truck IFS's? I would like to use Ford parts and not GM (Camaro or Firebird) front clips. Nobody makes a Mustang II conversion IFS that will fit my truck. I will use a Ford V8. I have a chance to purchase an 85 LTD with a 400 cid V8 and AOD. I hope the front end, brakes, and fuel cell will make the change as well. Does anybody know?? Thanks for any help, Glenn C. I've posted to this list before, but in case you missed it, here goes one more time. I don't know if it will help you at all, but his truck is just awesome. He bought it from a older man who owned a body shop and took two years to build it. Anyway - it is a 48 Ford F-1 pickup sitting on a 1979 Jeep Cherokee Chassis. The Ford body is NOT modified; and the man told hubby that the Ford mounted right to the Jeep chassis with only a couple of hole modifications. He took the Jeep interior, leather bucket seats and door panels and fitted them in the truck. Also used the air conditioning and steering column. It is a 4-wheel drive, so it sits up high and rides JUST LIKE A CAR. Well, actually it is a car, it just looks like an old truck. This might not apply to you and your current truck, but might give you some food for thought for future trucks on this cold November day. Please read this message, it has a lot more content than just window sticker information. 1. Item One - Window stickers In an effort to break even with the window stickers.... To those who don't know or have forgotten: Ford Truck Enthusiasts has static cling window stickers. Show your Ford pride or give one (or two!) as a great stocking stuffer. These bumper sticker sized stickers apply and remove easily and are reusable. Stickers are clear with white lettering, preview is on the web site: http://www.ford-trucks.com/sticker.html (site is currently down for upgrades and should be back up tonight or tomorrow). Item Three - Events We hope to organize an event for the Southeast (possibly at the F100 Nationals in Pigeon Forge) and get others involved in organizing events in their regions. 4. Item Four - Web sites If I can get another advertiser I hope to expand our web service so I can offer free/cheap (cost) web sites to members who currently host Ford truck sites. Your site would be: http://www.ford-trucks.com/~yoursite When the web service is updated I'll be able to offer email addresses (yourname 5. Item Five - Web site updates December 1st (if I experience no delays) the web site will have a huge upgrade. Hopefully it will blow everyone's socks off. Its undergoing testing right now on a server I've set up in the home. Wish I could tell you more but I may have to drop features due to technical reasons. One this is certain: nightly live chat. 6. Item Six - New mailing lists Voting for a Bronco 2/Explorer/Ranger list will begin one day after the web site update (Dec. 2 or later) with a voting form on the web site. Voting results will be updated live. Additionally, another list is a possibility. I have to set up a poll to see if there's enough support. 7. Item Seven - Upcoming Anniversary Mid-January will be our first anniversary. If anyone has ideas about how to celebrate it, please post them. As you can see, I've been busy! My wife has taken a lot of the list administration load for me so I've been able to participate more and work on the site. Many of these items may take a long time to complete and nothing is carved in stone. Send feed-back if you want. Ken CoAdmin Ford Truck Enthusiasts http://www.ford-trucks.com ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 15 Nov 1997 17:11:39 -0800 From: Dan Wentz Subject: F1 Power Steering I wrote several months ago that I would update the list on my installation of ram power steering. Well, today I finally got it working. I used the kit from Sacramento Vintage (which I think is actually made by So Cal Pickups). It's a nice kit, using all Ford parts, and costs around $600. The directions that come with the kit are virtually useless. They are poorly written, and are for installation on a Chevy. Luckily it's easy to figure out what goes where. The kit bolted on in about an hour. The headache with this project (there's always at least one big headache in any project) was the high pressure hose. They give you a hose with no fitting installed to attach it to the pump. What they give you instead is a fitting you kind of screw together. I thought I had it on right until it exploded under pressure. I didn't waste anymore time with that--I went and got a hose from a 66 Mustang and that worked out perfectly. The difference in steering ease is unbelievable. I went from using every bit of strength to turn the wheel to using 1 finger. I haven't had it on the road yet because it started to rain just as I was finishing up, but it moves pretty good in the driveway. If you want power seering, but don't want to convert to IFS, I think this is the way to go. ~Dan 1992 Ford Mustang LX 1950 Ford F1, 351C-2V Check out my F1 page: http://www.ford-trucks.com//lc/lc.php?action=do&link=http://www.GeoCities.com/MotorCity/3623 ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 15 Nov 1997 12:23:58 -0500 From: "Howard Tarnoff" Subject: Domestic Special Order Does anyone out there have the capability of telling me what the code means?
