The booklet is called "CLUES to Successful Truck Operation". I never saw on before and don't know much about it - but it caught my eye when I saw it. I really wished it covered the year of my truck. I will attempt to describe a little bit of it. It is a 23 page color brochure put out in July-August 1954 by the FoMoCo that was sent out in the mail to '54 Ford owners (based on the "US Postage - Paid Detroit, Mich." Stamp on it.) It is in excellent condition. It has neat articles and just about every page has photos. A few articles are: Ford trucks used on the farm, for "Saturday night dating" , and an article on the "World's most powerful Pickup" and how they proved it by towing a ship! There's plenty more articles and if you'd like to know more about this booklet then email me off-list_. I could probably scan a couple of the pages to send you if you're interested_.. but please don't ask me to scan all 25 pages (with the cover) - that would be a BIG file to send! ;-) Later, Eric erickson ============================= "Happy Days" 1961 F100 Unibody Pick'em up Truck w/'59 292 Y-block ============================= ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 03 Nov 1997 09:56 -0400 (EDT) From: jniolon Subject: SMOG POLICE REVISITED Well, the rumblings about "reformulated gasoline" are getting louder. Seems we've set some records for EPA violations here in Birmingham. So, I'm wondering what is in store for us with high perf engines, soon to be high perf engines and just older engines... What is this stuff made of, octane ratings and what is the general no good it's gonna due for probably a higher price. California guys, Nevada guys and all your clear air breathers, what say ??? Give me some info If you can't see the air, how can you trust it ????????? ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 3 Nov 1997 09:01:28 -1000 From: "John R Lawrence" Subject: [none] - ---------------------- Forwarded by John R Lawrence/AAI/ARCO on 11/03/97 08:51 AM --------------------------- John R Lawrence 10/29/97 09:06 AM To: fordtrucks cc: Subject: I have a 47 Ford Truck that's been redone by someone before me. About the only thing left stock is the body. I must say I've owned my share of "projects" but had never seen one of these before. What I'm looking for is a picture of how it looked new. Or even some ideas of what I might do for the front grille which right now is just a big rectangular hole with several vertical sheet metal bars in it. I think some kind of grille cover must've been attached to it (?). Anyway, something's missing. I was thinking about going with tubular horizontal chrome grille bars after removing the verticals. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. The "High-Speed Characteristics of Pickup Trucks" article is extremely funny and I hope everyone here enjoys it as much as I did. Ethan Vos wrote: > > Do a search for P.J. O'Rourke. I currently have a 77 camaro IFS suspension on it. Does anybody know if this change will affect the stability & alignment of the suspension and what kind of car or truck will be best to be used as a donor for this change? The reason for this is because I will like to install a set of nice wheels from a Chevy truck that are sitting in my garage. I also have a 9" rearend in the 56 and the bolt pattern will also have to be changed. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
