I'm doing some research for my brother who inherited my grandfather's
'52 pickup. S/N F1D2NR15138. Need to know where I can get books,
manuals, and any other important information regarding restoration for

I just needed to comment. You have to be carefull with what you order and that
your ordering the right part. The good thing is that if it won't fit
carpenteur or the
others make a living selling parts so customer service is very good. Not
all the
repro parts are made in the same place some are made overseas and are of bad
quality.Alot of people have talked about JCWitney on this list and (from
exp.) I would not order anything from them (I wasted enough money on my
first project)talk
about questionable quality.Be real careful and get on the phone and let them
know
I'm sure they will take care of you.

Jeff-have '48 F7 . The engine in mine is a a Lincoln, the left head (driver
side) had "Lincoln 8EQ-B" on it and the right head has "FOMOCO 8EQ-B". Carb
is a Holley with a "Centri-Vac" Governor. Based on what others on this list
have told me and what I have dug up the engine had a CID of 336.7, 3.50
bore, 4.38 strike and develops 145 hp 3600 rpm, with 225 ft lb of torgue.
There are two top and two bottom water inlets-outlets. Mine has a "plate"
ont he top back of the intake manifold where the mechanical fuel pump would
mount. Distributor is on oposite side. If this matches what you have let me
know and I'll measure or take pictures of what you need. Had the engine
running well until the starter ceased working. So thats my next project. As
far as I know my truck is basically intact but bedless.

find a repair manual for a 49 that provides some helpful information
also and I will share the starter info with you if you would like. I
would greatly appreciate measurements and photos of the engine mounting
if possible.

Subject: F-7 Truck Engine

The truck engine should be 337ci.
The transmission it hooked to was a Clark 5 speed, 2 versions, 5th
direct and 5th overdrive.
The bellhousings are different, won't hook up to a 48-52 trans.
I don't know what year your F600 is, but for 48 to 52 there were 3
distinct sets of front fenders, F-1, F-2 - F-6, and F-7 - F-8. We did
some measuring years ago, don't think the engine compartment is big
enough on an F-6.

I'm looking at the shop manual for these, doesn't really show and I
can't remember precisely, but I think the front mounts are similar to an
R engine, but closer together.

I have a scanner, if a copy of anything would help, let me know.

Dennis Carpenter seems to make all the rubber trim in the industry.
When I've been to swap meets and two of the local places all their
rubber had Dennis Carpenter on the package. Funny thing is that....
