Randall,
If you want disk brakes and IFS on your 1952 F-1, I know of just the thing
for you. This would work especially good if you don't have welding skills, or
just don't want to cut up the frame of your 52. Gibbon's Fiberglass
Reproductions
[(308) 468-6178 {In NE}] or [(704) 821-4224 {In North Carolina}] Sells a bolt
on kit for your truck which allows it to use Plymouth IFS. I believe the kit
for your truck is $450. That does not include the rice of the suspention parts
which you can get from a pick-n-pull. The Kit can use several different donor
cars. The advantage of it being a bolt on is that If you ever sell the truck
and the next person wants to restore it they can bolt in stock suspention, or
you can remove it if later you decide to go to a clip. Hope this Helps.

You can buy a bolt on kit from MP Brakes, that uses either Ford or GM
calipers. They are on the net. John

Subject: Electronic Distributor For 429

I am currently trying to install a 429 engine & C-6 transmission out of a 69
Marquis on a 56-F100 frame with a camaro suspension. Has anyone done
something similar? I will like to replace the original distributor in this
engine with an electronic ignition distibutor. However it appears that one
out of a 460 will not fit, Does anyone know what type of car or engine will
have an electronic ignition distributor that will fit in this 429? I will
also like to have a tilt front on this truck. Any tips and advice on any of
the above will be certainly appreciated.

randall, i have been told by several sources that the volare ifs is
sensitive to over steering. they do sell dampers now for just this reason. i
have a 1976 GM 1/2 ton pu front under my 59f-100. plenty of beef, hd p/s
unit (out front to avoid 15 joints in the steering shaft) and big disc.
guarenteed not to wear out early. many around (even in the frigid land
inhabited by our northern brothers) cheap, many years fit including big gm
cars, welds up in a heartbeat(pun intended) and already set up fer yur
vortec. i do however have some reservations about this vortec. get a motor
that only a few vehicles have and you start getting like our brothers at
ford. if you like chevy motors, pick one of the proven and plentiful models.
this will help out when it stops working and you go into a parts house and
say "vortec" and the man at the register says "hope you brought yur
billfold". on the othert hand, it would be a conversation piece, wouldn't
it. before anyone out there starts with the wornout "chevy crap" phrases,
let me assure you that i am a ford and chevy person that never lets brand
loyalty get in the way of a strong runner. i have both, and i love a good
imagination and a "so what if it's never been done before attitude". you go
girl friend.
