A veritable flood of information from one simple inquiry! Thanks to Rich, Jeff (ha ha) and Todd for the promt responses. It seems that a couple of grand ain't to shabby for parts & labor to rebuild the flathead...I am learning. The Kanter Co. has several prices that are the best to date; I have ordered their catalog. The block goes in to the shop today for slow-cook and magnaflux. I will keep you all informed and no doubt be back with more basic questions. Thanks again from Fairbanks.... I did not skimp on the parts, I don't plan on doing it again, seeing that I only put 50 miles a week on the truck. Their are many good sources for standard parts and as I did 50's style hot rod equipment. I had a lot of fun doing it. I am glad I didn't drop in a late model FORD engine. I get more conversation from people getting a kick out of " The Good Old Days" Good Luck Tom Nickolson ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 19 Nov 1997 18:46:24 -0500 (EST) From: Jan Subject: Re: F2 Flatbed Flathead Just had my 55 V232 flathead rebuilt this summer in LA for $2,200, plus another $600 in fine adjustments over the next month after rebuilding. For what it's worth. Jan On Tue, 18 Nov 1997, Jeff Hazewinkel wrote: > When I first was investigating having my flathead rebuilt those were the > numbers I was seeing.
