We painted them the same color as my grille, a cream or beige color. It looks real nice. I also painted the back of my chrome K-Mart brand side view mirrors the same color. You see, I am not going to put those cute small chrome mirrors they sell in the catalogs which they try to tell you they are original on my "farm truck". Maybe they are original to something but not to '53-56!! I have never seen any on any truck in any junk yard or any vintage photo. As I look I am becoming concerned at the stress placed on the 4 bolts that hold the transmission on. I am not sure this aluminum transmission is designed to carry so much weight, with an engine that is mounted on the front corners!! Has anyone installed a rear engine support when upgrading to a new auto or manual tranny? Is it neccessary, or am I just a worry wart? To make things easier when I installed the motor I put in the 71 single point vacuum advance distributor. My thinking is that I will be better off in the long run with the 85 electronic distributor. I have the distributor but don't have any of the wiring etc. Has anyone done this. The truck has already been converted to 12 volt. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 10 Apr 2000 19:51:36 -0500 From: JeffH Subject: Re: 52 F-1 6 volt to 12 volt At 09:13 AM 4/9/2000 EDT, Ed wrote: > > I have enjoyed this list for over a year!! Would someone please help me with a dimension I need for a design project I'm working on. I need the center-to-center distance between the park lights on a '53-'56 F-100? When I asked last week for the similar dimensions on '51-'52 F-1 and '53-'56 F-100 the F-1 guys came through in a flash. Thanks--your response is much appreciated. I know it doesn't sound terribly important, but it could save me a two-hour trip down off the mountain and back, and enable me to have my 'ducks in a row' when I present my story. If there's an F-100 person out there who can help I'll be grateful. I have a 215 overhead straight six in my truck and I need a manifold for this motor. I am wondering if you have a manifold for this motor. I saw that you had some old trucks like this on your website and are hoping you will have the part. The 215 was also in 53 trucks, but don't know what else." I don't know if it's intake or exhaust though but either would be good. Thanks Scott __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Talk to your friends online with Yahoo! He asked me for a good website to sell two 50 F-1's. I have looked at som of the photos and they are rough but for someone living close to them it might be valuable. Here's a quote from the letter: ""Thanks for the quick response. By all means please forward my web address to anyone you might think is interested. http://www.ford-trucks.com//lc/lc.php?action=do&link=http://www.freeyellow.com/members8/fordparts/index.html I really have no idea how much to ask for any of these parts, they belong to the pastor of our church and he asked me to see what I could do; so far, not much. Thanks for your quick response. Ray"" End of quote. The snow is gone now and I took Oswald and my daughter to the freeway. I really enjoy sitting high above the other cars, watching the reactions. Especially the cars where the woman is driving, the baby in the other front seat and they guy sitting in the back seat. He is talking, man his lips are moving fast watching Oswald and she doesn't understand what's so special with an old pickup. On pickups you don't have a back seat where you can be put away by the ol' lady. I know it and the other guy just discovered that. You can see Oswald on page: http://www.ford-trucks.com//lc/lc.php?action=do&link=http://www.rarite.com/CARS.htm Far away greetings from Sweden Tom the Terrible Good Luck! Tom the Terrible |
