Peggy and I are back from her grandfather's funeral. We decided that there wasn't much point in staying the entire weekend and left a couple of hours after the funeral. He was a very good man who's been suffering with cancer for months. If you'll indulge me for a few sentences.... I hold in high regard anyone, regardless of their faith (ie, Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, etc) who can follow that faith 100%. Its something I have a very difficult time doing. Peggy's grandfather, "Doc", was one such man who, as a country physician, had helped countless individuals and practiced medicine in his retirement home to the very end. Very well loved man who had a sincere belief in his God and did his best to help others, even to the point of being taken advantage of. I didn't know him very long, but his death touched me deeply. I think his dying words said it all... "For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith" 2 Timothy, 4:6-7 Can you imagine going out with those words? Hearing it left me speechless. Anyway, I have received numerous messages of condolence from fellow FTE'rs, and rather than attempt to answer them all I'll say here to everyone.... "thank you." I mean it sincerely and it was nice coming home to it. I'll be taking care of FTE administrative items and will catch up by the end of the weekend. He sounds like a great man and God is lucky to have him back. One more nice guy to look over the rest of us he left behind. I'm sure he will continue to do great work, just in different ways. Welcome back. Nick ------------------------------ From: "Terry" Subject: factory radio Date: Sat, 26 Feb 2000 22:37:01 -0600 I went to the swap meet in Decatur Tx today. It was as big as I have ever seen. Found two original 56-60 radios. One cost me $5 and the other was $20. I bought the cheaper one just to have extra parts. A guy told me the $20 radio worked, thats why he wanted more. Well it turns out the $5 radio worked just fine after replacing the bad tube from the other radio and cleaning all the dirt out of it. I feel real fortunate. Been casually looking for almost 10 years for a radio. Nobody would even budge off the price of $50 and up on non working radios. I will tinker with this other radio and should bring it back to life. There isnt too much in an old AM tube radio. I am a happy camper with a complete working original radio for my ole truck. Its real cool to turn on an old radio and hear old music. Now if I just get it converted to FM.......hmmmmm. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 26 Feb 2000 20:54:05 -0800 From: Mike Pacheco Subject: Re: factory radio I also have a 56' radio that just humms.... what type of place these days will repair a radio of this age?
