Does anyone know where the serial number / VIN / body number, or what ever
they called it in 1936, is on a 36 Ford PU? Also, is that the number on the

There's a number stamped into the frame rail. On my '35, I think it's just
to the rear of the steering box. The same number was also stamped on the
engine itself (by the cast-in bell housing), and according to "Ford V-8
Service Bulletins", the style of the stamping changed at some point: the
bulletin advises dealers to get new metal stamps so they could get the
proper matching number when replacing the engine.
