I do not know if they were original or not. My understanding was some F-150's, and Broncos had them. I think it is difficult to find a posi unit for the 28 spline. Axles in a junk yard are cheap, so maybe find a 31 spline set and dump the weaker parts. Just FYI, there are at least 2 different bolt patterns for the 4 bolts that hold the "axle retaining plate". That FE you have...dyno'd? Just wondering where your HP number came from. With that kind of power, you shouldn't even be thinking of 28 spline axles.... So I'm gonna try again,( my mail server has been known to be screwy at times ) . I am looking for a 9 inch posi. I am puuting it into a 72 F-100. It's been so long since I have had the axles out, when I think of the spline count, 28 comes to mind. Now, I know they they come in either 31 and/or 28. Do trucks have the 28 spline? Thanks for your time guys!! I had to get rid of my 74 Ranger Supercab, but the good news is I had to so I could get my new truck (74 F350 Ranger XLT Super Camper Special 460). Let me tell you she is awesome. I traded my Supercab and 2,000 for it. I had to drive to Daytona Beach to get her but man she is really sweet. She has a miss and needs some other work, but even with the miss she got a little over 10 mpg doing 65-75 mph. Well I will keep you guys posted on what's going on with her. PS.. it is great to own a 74 in a emissions county. -- William (Tony) Whited 74 F350 Ranger XLT Super Camper Special 460 77 F150 Custom 460 El Paso, TX Semper Fi ------------------------------ End of perf-list Digest V2001 #8 ******************************** ---------------------------------------------------------- Ford Truck Enthusiasts Performance, Hot-Rod and Custom Truck List Send posts to perf-list If you ever want to remove yourself from this mailing list, send an email to: listar To access the rest of this feature you must be a logged in Registered User Of Ford Truck Enthusiasts
