I have a 71 429 in my truck. I recently purchased a new Holley performance mechanical pump(110gph) to support the new 850 double pumper I put on it. The problem is this, I install the pump and it doesn't work. Totally isolated it with gas in and out and nothing. I put on my old pump and it works. This is the second pump from Holley, so I don't think it's defective. Is it possible the cam concentric is slipping from the additonal spring pressure this pump may have? Any ideas? Thanks in advance for your help Dennis 55F100 ------------------------------ From: "O'Connell, Dennis M" <DMO1 Subject: Re: Fuel Pump Fraustration Date: Wed, 14 Mar 2001 07:55:58 -0800 I think I found the problem with the Holley pump. The actuator arm is a different shape than stock. This results in the Holley pump having a arm that is 7/16 inch lower than stock. I don't think I am getting enough contact with the Cam eccentric to work the pump. Can anyone recommend a good performance mechanical pump(110gph+) for the 429 Ford? Thanks in advance.
