My question: Is the Motorcraft 2100-D two-barrel a ford design and if not what is it? Over a conversation with a friend over which is better holley or edelbrock I had speculated that my Carb might be a holley design for the lack of metering rods. If someone can tell me or at least tell me where to look I will be very thankful. This is a 460, just rebuilt and won't idle. What kind of cam did you put in it, duration, lobe separation, lift etc...?? Even when a lot of things are wrong it should idle like a swiss watch (and I don't mean tic, tic, tic, tic :-)). What plug wires are you using and with what plugs? Those stupid carbon wires are worthless because they are so easily damaged and soak up so much of your system's energy. All you need to do is stretch one a little bit and you have a miss. Metal, coil choke wires are the best (Heli-wound). More durable and put all the power to the plug. This really sounds like the push rods were not sized after the head work was done to ensure proper preload. You may have some valves not sealing or it could be a shoddy job of installing the intake manifold or carb or any number of other components. If you still have an EGR it may be stuck open causing an over lean mixture and if the plugs were once loaded up you should pull them and clean them to make sure. I just ran into that, spent several days trying every trick I could think of to start what should have been just a flooded engine but it had been flooded many times before and had carbon tags on the electrodes shorting them. No amount of cranking or even firing them would clean that off. That one caught me and tripped me up, wasted a lot of time out in the cold barn......but I learn from my mistakes :-) -- Happily Retired (but broke) Michigan Pot Hole Jumping, 78 Bronco Loving, Gary -- > I just had my mechanic rebuild me 460 in my 77. I pulled the right front off last night and nothing was loose or seemed worn. The only thing that needs work is the radius arm bushings, they are a little worn. Any ideas????
