It's a positive displacement unit which is designed to integrate with the fuel injection system on the 5.0. >DOES ANY1 KNOW OF A SUPERCHARGER COMPANY THAT MAKES A MANIFOLD MOUNT UNIT. _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.ford-trucks.com//lc/lc.php?action=do&link=http://www.hotmail.com. They have a roots charger out for FI 5.0 Mustangs, I believe its called the BBK "Instacharger". I think it's produced by Eaton, who manufactures the blowers for all GM's S/C apps (Grand Prix GTP, Bonneville SSEi, Regal GS, etc), the unit for the TBird SC, and ??the new Lightning??, all of which are Roots-style units. Carburetors don't require the 'intelligent' computer that EFI does I guess. Oddly enough I remember when carbs were understood and FI was feared; now among the 'new' technicians/rodders FI is understood with carbs being a 'black art'. Being the oldest tech in the shop I get all the carburetor cars while the other guys avoid 'em. <BG> I'm pretty sure it'd be a challenge to fine tune an EFI to the degree that good ol' Weber DCOE side-drafts can for engine upgrades. Hmm... might have to adapt the pair I've got to the B-2000 when It's carb fails; also... anyone tried two 3-Bbl Webers on a 2.8L Ranger/B-II? Might be an alternative to fitting a 3.8 TBI unit. :-) Personally I wouldn't refit from EFI to carburetion on a street vehicle, but if cost isn't a factor I would do the reverse for simplicity. Carbs aren't dead, but they're sure on the endangered list. :-( Any votes for which is the most mis-understood/mis-diagnosed? a) Carbs b) EFI c) Electrical I've known technicians that claimed to be 'ace' in all areas except one or more of the above. Sink or swim though... everything is becoming electronically contolled with more on the horizon. Camless engines using the computer to open the valves via solenoids may be 5-10 years off! (Wow! how much easier to reprogam the PCM for valve duration/lift than changing the cam(s)... Hate it for Crane Cams etc. though.) Is it any wonder I have lots of grey hair at 38 trying to keep up with all the changes Ford and others design in evry year? :-) Tim ____________________________________________________________________ Get your own FREE, personal Netscape WebMail account today at http://www.ford-trucks.com//lc/lc.php?action=do&link=http://home.netscape.com/webmail ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 20 Sep 2000 21:39:00 -0400 From: admin Subject: Subscription to forum at http://www.ford-trucks.com/cgi-bi Following are new messages posted in the Ford Truck Enthusiasts message board forums.
