Not necessarily, I think it worked just like the R and Q codes on the 'stangs ... where the R code was the "ram air" version that did have a shaker scoop, or at least a functional scoop and the Q codes may have had a scoop, but it was non-functional ... This was an AACA (Antique Automobile Club of America) meet, national meet actually, so everything there was original down to the bolt color and type ... this guy was also the original owner. He had ordered it as a "sleeper" that is why it has the "poverty" hubcaps and is not very flashy ... its also Black Jade if you can't quite make out the color :) A very beautiful car in real life, the pics just don't do the color or the car justice ... Bummer, that's a changeover year, so I can't say for sure ... the 'stangs I'm pretty sure did, but that's the HO motor and not sure if the others had changed yet or not ... > also got any performance tips for > it? You can bump the timing on it,just like any other motor, only instead of pulling the vacuum advance you just pull a "spout" connector ... some decent headers and a much larger exhaust than what the Ranger had stock will help it breathe. A nice cam would wake it up pretty well too .. > Also, does anyone know the difference between the > standard 5.0 and > the HO verson? The big difference is the Cam, this also affects the firing order, so if you change besure and switch the rest out too ... there was a discussion on one of the Mustang boards about this a while back, I'll see if I can dig up all the differences they came up with ... "If you want to turn it into an HO, you need to change the upper intake, tb, and egr spacer, the cam, and computer.
