just got a 65 falcon with 170 six and 3 spd. manual. gonna hit the junk
yard to find 302 engine mounts , rear end etc. what years of fords will
a 9'' rear swap in. also motor mount brackets. did the six trannies
have the same input as the 302. bronco buster.

Heh...heh...I think I have the answer to your mystery part for you. If this
was the first time this tranny has been apart you could be looking at the
plug which is put in during assembly of the transmission prior to the
dipstick/tube being installed after the tranny is in the vehicle. When the
dipstick tube is installed the plug is simply pushed into the tranny and
stays in the pan until the first service where the technician usually
removes it and tosses it. I used to work at a Ford dealership and saw many
of these plugs.

hey bill.... last night when i was boggled.. i looked at the dipstick tube
hole and it fit perfect..... im sure thats what it is.
