I'm building a 55 F100 and have acquired a 5.8L (351W) fuel injected engine from a 90 F250. The engine came from a salvage yard but supposedly has only 58,000 miles on it. It originally had a T5 manual but I am putting in a C6. What I would like to know is what if any mod's can be made to this engine/transmission? What changes are required (if any) to adapt engine to the transmission? I am intending to build a daily driver but one that has acceptable performance as well. The chassis is set up with a Volare front end and a 9" rear. Total novice attempting to obtain a dream. When I opened the fram I got a little mad, they should be embarrassed, every since I have only used NAPA or Wix. Haven't wasted money on a fram since. I didn't think the 5.8 ever came with a T5 behind it, unless it was the world-class one from the 95 Cobra R, in which case you have one hot motor already and shouldn't worry about modifying it ... Likely it came with whatever the trucks were using for a tranny at the time. If you hit the pages of Lightning folks you'll probably find some neat tricks for them. I think there are upper and lower intakes available, along with a host of ignition system upgrades, and some neat chips to make it run a bit better ... the options are actually endless once you decide you're not towing anything and just want a cruiser pickup with lots of high end horsepower ...
