This was my thought too, and I could have sworn my former roommates 86 F150
4x4 had a 9" under it still ... is it possible the lighter duty trucks got
the 8.8 sooner than the rest (ie 302's and 300's ?)

This is a reminder to those who said they plan on attending the
Ford Motorsports Enthusiasts event at Ford's world headquarters
(Dearborn).

The event will be this Thursday. If you lost the directions and
schedule (or never had them), email me privately
(kpayne ford-trucks.com) and I'll send them. Wear your Ford
Truck Enthusiasts t-shirt to show everyone who you represent. There
should be several clubs there and its a great chance to meet others
and see what Ford has planned.

I'll be flying there for the day (Peggy can't make it) and I
look forward to meeting some of you!

We're surrounded!!! Hehehe.

Now for the ford tie-in: As much as I am trying to figure out what to do
with my Ranger, today I found myself trying to squeeze into fast moving
rush hour traffic. I really appreciated the performance of that 4.0L V6
and automatic. Maybe I can K&N and header my next Ranger, yeah that's it.

Everything I've ever read, including Currie's comments on the 9", have
always stated '73-'86 half-tons. Dana was the upgrade. I wonder if
perches and flange to flange are the same. Surprising though, '84 wasn't
much of a change year. Who knows, Ford has done stranger things than
that.
