I'm sure glad you're staying on the performance list; you're our resident big block pro. I'm starting a new project this summer and will need your specs on bottom end bearing clearances and valve train geometry. Actually, i don't want to be using them either! Once the oil gets warm, I am running only about 20 psi pressure at idle. Still don't know what i am running at top end on the track though - i never had time to look. I will be hopefully mounting a camera in the cab, to find out, sometime mid season. My clearances are big - i can't remember the numbers off hand, but at the max, both radial and side clearance. Side is actually run for a manual tranny drag car - too loose for an auto trans puller. I recommend for clearances, calling some real pros. And then using their varied info to come up with what you best feel will work for you. I went big, thinking i could keep oil pressure, but my gamble didn't pay off. I might be shimming the oil pump spring sometime this year for more pressure, but that too can be a gamble. Keep us updated on your project. sleddog - ---------- From: George Miller[SMTP:mega55 Sent: Sunday, April 18, 1999 10:18 PM To: perf-list Subject: FTE Perf - Travlin' Sleddog - Have a good run in what, for me, has never been a real pleasant experience.
