I am interested in hearing from anyone who is using one of these or similar products from other companies. I'm toying with the idea of swapping a E4OD into my '79 in order to gain the OD. Anyone else out there done this?? Looks like we have the same idea, still. Thanks, LOBUCK You might check the early to mid 80's trucks ... not too many of them with 351's came with an od, but I would think there would be some 302's out there....if not there, then check the 'stangs, the 5.0's were runnin AOD's with the carb (not the AODE) ... and those should bolt right up, if you have a 4x2 anyway ... not sure on driveshaft lengths or anything there though... Several people have mentioned that the 302 has a thin casting and may have heat problems if it's been bored. Is anyone familiar with this? Also, I'm not sure that it has been bored. Does a rebuild automatically mean it's been bored, or is it done only if required or desired? Also, is there any way I can judge the quiality of the job? The wrecker has an itemized cash register receipt from the machine shop. Is there anything I should specifically look for on the receipt? - -- Don == FTE: Uns*bscribe and posting info http://www.ford-trucks.com/faq.html ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 12 Jan 99 17:53:40 PST From: don Subject: Re: FTE Perf - 5.0 Rangers in California? >Anybody out there drive a Ranger with a 5.0L or 5.7L in California? Federal adopted by KA, to put any motor not available from the factory in that particular vehicle in any emissions non-exempt (early 70's in that state) car/truck. More important, all that state's laws relating to emissions legislation are now enforced with potential fines, to the smog tester, that made me gulp when I heard them. Word is, what was commonly available for an extra $100+, is no longer available from even long time connections and relatives. What about the original engine blueprinted, balanced, rechiped and six or so pounds of boost between smog checks? George Miller >Anybody out there drive a Ranger with a 5.0L or 5.7L in California? The artist completed the work last week and the design went to press today. Pricing information will be available this weekend (after we find out what it will cost to ship them). The t-shirts are 100% cotton with a front pocket and a design on the back. Sizes child medium through adult XXXL are available. For a preview of the design before they go on sale this weekend: http://www.ford-trucks.com/tshirt.jpg The image on the web site is 640x480 pixels, the image on the shirt is hi-resolution with over 1900x1400 pixels. I believe most everyone will be happy with the design! To those that entered a design, we haven't forgotten. Our first order of business after we make some sales is to provide a prize pack to you.
