I have a 92 F150 w/300cid and 4AOD. Bought it new, and have 70k on it. Only thing not straight from the factory are wheels and bed cover. I love the big 6, but would like to have some decent hp. Since the 6 is far from a performance engine, there seems to be no aftermarket hp bolt ons. I have packed away on a stand a 460 and C6 out of a 74 Cougar. Has anyone here tried to shoehorn one of these big blocks into an F150? If so, problems (other than emissions)? If not possible, anyone know of a S Florida shop that can help my 6? I know there's a world of difference between hopping up a 6 and putting in a 460, but I already own the 460. Thanks, Bill Hyde bhyde == FTE: Uns*bscribe and posting info http://www.ford-trucks.com/faq.html ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 01 Jun 1999 08:02:23 -0500 From: William S Hart Subject: Re: FTE Perf - 92 F150 >Has anyone here tried to shoehorn one of these big blocks into an F150? I'm sure someone's tried it. On the plus side, the F250's had this available with fuel injection (speed density, but still injection) for the same year of your truck ... you might check the local scrap yards and such, a wrecked one could be worth its weight in gold to you ... then you could get the manifold, exhaust manifolds (if you don't run headers), all the wiring, motor mounts, etc. With enough patience it could even look factory :) If you have the AOD there will be no, or very few problems putting the C6 in (as it was also an option on the Fseires), however if you have an AOD-E I'm not sure it will be as easy since the older tranny doesn't have any of the electrical hookups to let the computer know what gear its in ... I used the pulleys off the 302 and everying lined up including the power steering... Now, my bottom pulley (crankshaft) was a 3 groove set up for AC (which I don't have).. I did use a 1979 power steering setup (bracket and pump and it still all lined up ok...).. good luck.
