Re: FTE Perf - K & N filtercharger ======================================================================= ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Mon, 18 Jan 1999 09:17:49 -0700 From: "Giddens, Scott" Subject: RE: FTE Perf - K & N filtercharger Chris, What you installed is the K&N FIPK (Filter Injection Performance Kit) The FilterCharger is just a replacement for the air filter using the same plenum. I don't hear a whistle on my installation with a 5.8L, just a lot of rushing air. (maybe your hearing is higher than mine) You seem to have the dual throttle body so there is no restriction there, it could be a vacuum leak, or maybe that is just the way it sounds on your Bronc. Is the sound kinda like a turbo noise or is it more like a whistle a person would make? Try running it with the FIPK removed a little at a time. If it makes that noise with every thing removed then it was just being covered up by the filter box assembly and it was there before you started. Could be an existing problem before you put the FIPK or that is just the way it sounds. The Ford Truck Enthusiasts t-shirts are ready! They are available on the web shopping cart, if you don't have a credit card, are not comfortable using a secure server, or cannot use a secure server (some older versions of AOL) you can print the order form and send it with a check to the address listed on the form. http://www.motorhaven.com/ We've tried to keep the price as reasonable as possible given the small quantity of shirts we ordered from the print shop. There are a couple of truck related sites charging about $20 for a t-shirt, we're keeping it to $12.50 (XX and XXX are slightly more). As is FTE's usual practice, we'll increase services offered with increased revenue. Regards, Ken Payne Admin == FTE: Uns*bscribe and posting info http://www.ford-trucks.com/faq.html ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 18 Jan 1999 19:22:02 -0800 From: Chris Bradley Subject: Re: FTE Perf - K & N filtercharger Scott, This is not a new whistle. It is like a whistle a person would make. The reason I can hear it more with the FIPK, is that the air intake hose is almost straight. The stock set up is almost an "S" shaped. (tbi back to air box, then runs forward to the grille) It is definately coming from the tbi, cause I have run the truck without any hoses (only for a minute) and the whistle is there. I think this is just one of those annoying things I will have to get used to. - -- Chris B '85 XLT http://www.ford-trucks.com//lc/lc.php?action=do&link=http://www.thewowfactor.com/bigbroncos/detail.cfm?detailid=134 "Giddens, Scott" wrote: > Chris, > > What you installed is the K&N FIPK (Filter Injection Performance Kit) The > FilterCharger is just a replacement for the air filter using the same > plenum. > > I don't hear a whistle on my installation with a 5.8L, just a lot of rushing > air.
