So what's the small hole in the >stock thermostat for & what am I risking? > As someone said its for bleeding off air in the system. What are you risking ? Probably not much, but if you are really worried about it, you can drill a small hole in the thermostat to simulate the one you don't have. I had an 82 GT and never had any problems with the thermostat not havin a hole in it.... Check out this crap..... *** Forwarding note from JRINTAM2--DRBN006 05/17/99 07:55 *** To: Ford U.S. employees Subject: (I) Howard v. Ford Motor Company Tomorrow, opening statements will be made in a state court in Oakland, California, in the class action lawsuit Howard v. Ford Motor Company. This class action complaint is being argued on behalf of more than three million California residents who are the original or current owners of Ford vehicles built between 1983 and 1995 with a thick film ignition or "TFI" module mounted on the distributor. A TFI module is an ignition system component. The Howard suit is a relatively new kind of class action -- none of the plaintiffs are claiming a personal injury, property damage or economic loss. Rather, the complaint is for damages based on the possibility that the TFI module might fail in the future. It's very rare for a class action lawsuit to actually go to trial, particularly one of this size. Because of this, you can expect to read about the trial from time to time in the newspapers, or hear about it on television or radio. For more information on our position in the suit, please see the FCN Online website homepage at http://www.ford-trucks.com//lc/lc.php?action=do&link=http://www.fcn.ford.com. The trial will likely last into the summer. We expect to win, and we will keep you updated. There is a principle (and sometimes contract) involved called "non-disclosure." Your buddy may have voilated Ford's non-disclosure and you gave public notice that he did it. == FTE: Uns*bscribe and posting info http://www.ford-trucks.com/faq.html ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 17 May 1999 23:02:07 -0700 From: Neil Johnson Subject: FTE Perf - pvc Hello again, Thanks for all the info. Ok, I did the compression test, results... (wet 167) 159 #4#8 140 (wet 145) (wet 153) 153 #3#7 160 (wet 147) (wet 175) 165 #2#6 153 (wet 161) (wet 165) 165 #1#5 165 (wet 169) You also asked about the pvc location, It was in the back left hand corner on the carb. I just put a Holley 750 on today and this one is on the left back corner. You also asked about how the oil looked, that was pretty black and thick, So I changed the oil. The drivers side plugs were good except to the #6 cylinder. It was just as wet as 1,2,&4. I checked for the valve seals also and they were in. When I rev it up, it smokes, and keeps on smoking for about 3 to 4 seconds after I let off. As far as I know, that tells me that it could be the valves...right? I got rid of the build up on the iol soaked plugs by plugging up the pvc all together, now they are just oil soaked. I took it to the shop after work today, the guy that built it is on that "Power Tour" and won't be back until next monday. ( That was one hell of a show ) So I guess when he gets back, that "we" might check the intake gasket. They are trying VERY hard to walk away from my problem. they are telling me that if a ring broke or something of that nature, then they wouldn't warranty it, cause they can't get the money back from Fedral Mougul. I couldn't believe my ears. I told them that I didn't pay 4k to have a motor that fouls plugs. Anyways enough of that mess. Hope I answered all of your questions. Thanks again your your guys time!!
