Subject: FTE Perf - 5.0 L HO Install

Getting ready to replace my 85 F-150 4x4's 302 with a 5.0 HO utililizing the
original F-150 EFI. I need to keep it legal for smog test here in FL. Just
have a few questions.

1. There are emmision legal headers listed for 87 models on up, but haven't
seen any for an 85. Will the later model headers work on my truck? I can't
figure why not.

2. Roller Rocker Arm's, does any how much Hp gain can be achieved and are
they worth it? I know I probably won't get high rpm's out of this engine due
to the computer and transmission (AOD) will keep it at about 5,000 +.

3. Phenolic spacer for the intake manifold. Do these work and how good?

4. Looking for a serpentine belt kit?

Not sure on this but I agree I can't see why not?

They should give you 10 to 15 hp, and better gas mileage!

These help cool the air more and help on the low end! Yeah they work but
they do not perform miracles!

Try march performance, they may have the kit in underdrive pulleys also,
2 brids with 1 stone, more power and switch to serpentine belt!

My 428 runs like the timing is retarded (It's not)or the firing order is
wrong(It's not).Sounds "flat" no power,sick,like it has the flu.
AFB has fresh rebuild,has new plugs,cap,wires,rotor,#150 compression on
all 8,no vacum leaks,dist.does not seem sloppy&has good gear.dist gear
on cam looks fine,advances as it should and timing does not vary.
I'm thinking flat cam,bad timing chain,or possibly bad Unilite unit in
Mallory Dist.From what I understand Unilite either works or not, no 1/2
way with them.
If the chain was bad wouldn't the timing be all over the place?Is there
another way to test chain?Is there any way to test a flat cam,besides a
dial indicator off the cam lobe?
Any help would be appreciated.
