Subject: FTE Perf - FORD RANGER 5.0 BUILD UP IDEAS, THOUGHTS NEEDED

Hello All! Merry Christmas! I have a few questions about an engine build
up that I am contimplating for my 90 ranger4x4. I want MAXIMUM low end
torque and midrange.

1.) SNIP

2.) SNIP

3.) SNIP

Also this will be attached to a properly built AOD
or AODE.

Thanks,
Bryan S.

Please more information.
Just exactly what power output are you looking to build?
What is your budget? I would say that option 2 would put you in the $5000
up bracket is this correct?
Where will you be driving it?
What drive train will you be feeding this power in to? Ok, AOD but.. Rear
Axil, Front Axil, T/case?

Muel.

Does anyone know of a place online or someone to contact about Ford's SVT
programs and parts information.?

This isn't really truck related but it is Ford and performace related. I
have a 99 Contour with the 2.5 V6. The SVT model used the same motor but
make 30 more HP. Does anyone think this is mostly in the computer? If not
completely in the computer, would the SVT computer add anything? Hypertech
doesn't have anything on their site as of yet. They seem to stop with the
97 model year for all cars and trucks.

Look at http://www.ford-trucks.com//lc/lc.php?action=do&link=http://www.ford.com/magazine/2-3contoursvt.html and also
http://www.ford-trucks.com//lc/lc.php?action=do&link=http://www.theautochannel.com/content/vehicles/new/reviews/1998/heilig111097
03.html. They claim that the intake runners are extrude honed, and other
differences include cams, pistons, flywheel and throttle body. The chip
itself probably won't do much.

This link details all of the changes Ford made to the SVT Contour. As you
can see it's not just computer.

This is a link to the SVT home page:
