I have an '89 Ranger that I am road racing with the SCCA. Right now it is currently getting a heart rebuild and a new pace maker. Cam, valves, increased compression and a new computer chip for the F.I. . It is a blast to run and I hope to get a full season in it next year. The development of the truck has been rewardingly frustrating. The only other person I know of that built a Ranger for road racing was Mr. Steve Saleen and for some reason I can't seem to get in touch with him. Way many years ago.... I built a 2.0L dare I say it Pinto..... I regularly spun it to 10,000RPM. Thing sounded like a 12 foot long hornet coming at you. Top speed in its final revision state was displayed on a county mounty's radar... OOP's! 139MPH! I think I was walking on air! Which is not what the expected reaction was suppose to be! It was illegal in almost every SCCA class until you get to the bad boy classes; where it would have been almost bad enough so it stayed on the street. Used to love to hunt the Eurojpan-Trash "hi-pro" sports cars and then dust em!! Tell me about your truck. I am guessing that it was mostly stock last season? What RPM's were you running? What kind of power do you think you were making? Expect with new "Heart"? What camshaft are you installing? Compression ratio? EFI Mods? What Trans are you running? How did you breaks hold up? Sorry for the bunch of questions. Full size trucks and Engines I know; but I've never even driven one of these trucks! I suppose I should before I get any farther in my planning!~) Chris 79 Bronco == FTE: Uns*bscribe and posting info http://www.ford-trucks.com/faq.html ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 28 Nov 1998 18:59:23 -0500 From: Ken Payne Subject: FTE Perf - ADMIN: Web chat Web chat is back up. The chat server has the same problem it had last spring (hanging after a period of time). It doesn't free resources very well. But.... its the fastest chat I've found and it uses virtually no system resourses. To get around the hanging problem, the chat server is restarted 5 minutes before the start of each hour. At that time, the chat server is down for about 30 seconds. You have to log back in to use it. I know its a hassle, but its the only solution for now.
