Boudreault" Subject: FTE Perf - Hello recent 79 F 150 owner (new to the list I did not catch the name, sorry.) Hurst 4 speed tranny with * granny (on the floor). * Hi and welcome. About the Hurst tranny - Are you sure? I don't believe Ford offered the Hurst, (At least not in the Truck line of that year.) If it is a factory Tranny it is one of two - T18 or NP 435 in the 4X4. There was a 4 speed Overdrive tranny offered in the 2X4 also from what I can tell, but I think it was a "Ford" Tranny. (Not sure on the 2x4.) You probably have a "Hurst" shifter handle instead of the "ball" type knob. I have one too. (I put it in as I had one kicking around.) I think you will find this list has a great deal of wisdom/knowledge to share with all levels of members. Personally, I think all the list members are more like good friends and quite willing to share experiences. ;>) Later, "Paul" PS. I have been lurking here for a little while, and I was just wondering if this list is strictly for OLD Ford trucks? I have a 93 F 150 Lightning (#3951) and was kinda hoping to find some late model enthusiasts. I hope that this list covers all High Performance Fords! I while not having much time to contribute right now (I must be content to just lurky-lurky)I am hoping to see input on every engine/truck Ford used from Flat Head to the new Modular suckers! Heck I wouldn't mind learning more about hot rodding a Diesel! Most of my building experience is with the SI engines of the 60's, through the early 90's. So far I am unimpressed with the Modular engines but they are new still and so I'll reserve my judgment. But come on Ford the new V10's power output is a joke! Chevrol#t caught it with 2 less Cylinders! I also hope that anyone that is racing will pass on periodic reports on their build up and race season. I know that Sleddog has in the past. But there must be more... I'd like to jump back in and mix it up pissing a few folks off here and there but right now time won't let me. Though I am sure that there are those that will wish that I would disappear again when I can get back:~) So OK Folks this list has been dead for too long now! Chuck tell me about your Lightning. Had a buddy that had one some time back and it was an impressive piece as delivered! What kind of info are you looking for? Are there any Ranger nuttz here? I'm thinking about building a 2WD Prerunner; using the 2.3L 4 Cyl. just for the challenge. Anyone? Respects to all. Anyone? >> Theres a guy at my favorite off-road shop that has one. Hes been tested at somewhere around 375 hp. naturally aspirated. Says he has a magician of a head man. Nice truck. I myself almost went with a Ranger for doin what I do, but I think its a bit more intimidating to do it in an F-350. I dunno, call me crazy. If you do wanna go with a Ranger, get a 95 or older, the 96 (as far as I know) doesn't use Twin I beam anymore. I'll tell ya, Twin I-Beam is the secret to succesful prerunning. You can land with the wheels turned full left or right, sideways or anyother direction your gut can't stand, and still drive home with a straight alignment. (To see it click the link, go to member trucks and look for the red and black one in the red truck catagory.) It is a 1993, #3951 out of 5276. It was originally red, but now sports a custom black to red fade paint job (hopefully another new paint job in 1999). Currently it has about 22k miles on it and is always in the garage. When it was bone stock it ran a best 1/4 mile of 15.4 records right now, I just moved 3 months ago. I know the time is correct but aint 100% sure on the mph). Last outing to the track it ran 15.0 mph. For mods it has under drive pulleys, custom 9" cone K&N filter, 14 degrees of timing, shift kit and custom cat-back, side exit exhaust (w/ Flowmasters and Borla tips). It ran the 15.0 with only the timing, K&N panle filter in the stock airbox and the pullies. It also sports 275-40ZR17 BFG Compt T/A tires which increase (numerically) the gear ratio. I have it lowered 4' front and 6" rear using Belltech components. I plan to run a 75-100 hp NOS dry kit this year if I cant swing a Vortech S-trim this spring, and a torque converter and headers/h-pipe. My eventual goals are to run mid to high 11's in street trim. The truck also sports a billet grill, shaved body emblems, Fastback fiberglass tonneau cover and a roll pan. I personally installed a 19x32" SFC power moonroof, and "aluminum" interior trim (soon to be carbon fiber). Dont forget the Lightning floor mats, painted intakes, chrome valve cover and water neck. Also I added carbon metallic brake pads/shoes. Any more ?'s Chuck == FTE: Uns*bscribe and posting info http://www.ford-trucks.com/faq.html ------------------------------ End of perf-list-digest V1 #154....
