Have you tried rotaing the flywheel on the crank? All Fords Ive seen have it
so it will only bolt on one way, set it on the flange, and start rotating
it. Should line up somewhere.

I have a 1984 F-150 with a 351W and T-18 4sp granny low manual tranny(4wd)np208 trans case.

the problem is usually when putting into reverse you had to push it over with some force and then down because there was a spring in there it felt like.
but something happened to it yesterday and now it will just flop over with no force then you put it into reverse. its not a problem except when you put it into 3rd gear it is hard to find it because there is not spring to hold the shifter from flopping over into the reverse gate.

here is that pattern.

can i please get some help and a fix so that i can fix this.?
