i forgot to mention that i have long tube headers on the 351W
and thought tha might make it need more gas at high rpms with secondaries open??

well it was the vapor lock situation someone described.
some were saying distributor but it has a mallory unilite
so that wasn't it. but i bought one of those plastic 1 inch
insulating spacers. under the carb and now it starts better than ever
not fist turnover but ont he second it fires right up.
gonna put rubber fuel line over my steel line becasue it runs close to the headers
and that is most likely the other portion of it. the 1 inch spacer gives incredibly more loower rpm torque. i mean seat of the pants difference. and the carb has a much louder rushing sound to it when you give it gas.

I have a 91 F150 5sp 4.9L (300cid)strait six. I need help on how to set the
rocker bolts. I just put new lifters, pushrods, oilpump, and rockers in her
and can't seem to get a lifter to stop ticking. I'm wondering if I got a
bad lifter. My book says to torque to 17 to 23ftlbs. So I set to 20 and
only have one that is ticking. Thanks for the help
