Is there one there if not what kind of fan do you have? Is the fan and fan clutch functioning properly? If you do have a fan clutch, check the following: First, when the engine is dead cold, can you trun the fan blade? you should be able to trun it without much force. Second, when the engine is hot, 200+ degree, turn the engine off and turn the blades? You should either not able to turn it or there is a lot of resistence. If either of this does not pass, you will need to replace the clutch and try again. Let me know more detail. -=ALEX Siu=- ASIU VOICE: (410)828-0273 ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 20 May 1997 06:45:24 -0500 From: Kevin Lindstedt To: fordtrucks Subject: Re: R/R Engine on Bronco Message-Id: Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" At 02:01 AM 5/20/97 -0500, you wrote: >Let me look at my Ford Motor sport catalog.... > >I don't see any computer calb. for 460. Can any 351W be built for power or do I need to start with a 4 bbl as opposed to a 2 bbl? Can it bolt straight up to the C6 that's behind the M right now or do I need to swap the bell housing or get a whole new tranny? Also, can I run a dual fuel with a 4 bbl carb? (gas and propane) I wouldn't mind the propane for fuel economy and the gas is there for power when I want it. Good idea. I ran out of time last weekend to check the vacuum advance completely. I did get a chance to try to advance the timing myself by sucking on the vacuum line leading to the distributor. It wasn't leaking and did rotate a few degrees. I don't know how far it should move or how easily but it does move. Thanks for the added advise. ====================== James A. Loosen the lock nut and turn in the screw. If you go too far, the steering will get tight. Could also bee the bushings worn out in the box. Then it's time to rebuild the box. -----Original Message----- From: Keith Srb [SMTP:herbie Sent: Monday, May 19, 1997 5:27 PM To: 'fordtrucks Subject: "Loose" Steering - 1966 Ford F-100 Does anybody have any ideas on how I could tighten up the steering in my truck. Right now I can turn the steering wheel around 40 degrees before it will change direction as I am cruising down the road. The last time I had the front end aligned, the mechanic showed me something interesting. He grabbed the steering column shaft and turned it back and forth. As he did this you could see the steering box flex some before it ever started moving the pitman arm. My truck has 98,000 miles on it. I would really like to find a way to put power steering on my truck. >Keith Srb herbie >1986 Ford Bronco II, 2.9L (I HATE LITERS) V-6, Mitsubishi 5-Speed. >1966 Ford F100, 240 C.I. it is hot in Arizona, we have had about 5 or 6 days of temp's over 100 degrees already this year, but "it is a dry heat". Today's high - 97 degrees, dew point - 51 degrees. Fan Clutch?? No such thing on my Pickup. The Stock 4-bladed fan is semi-ridged, about 16 inches in diameter. >Keith Srb herbie >1986 Ford Bronco II, 2.9L (I HATE LITERS) V-6, Mitsubishi 5-Speed. >1966 Ford F100, 240 C.I. I'm not sure when you say that you have the "stock 4-blade fan". Is this the flex fan or the the kind with a fan clutch? If it's the kind with the clutch, replace the clutch with a heavy duty clutch (about $90.00 from Pep Boys). ____________________________________________________________________ Message distributed via http://www.ford-trucks.com//lc/lc.php?action=do&link=http://www.lofcom.com/ For help send mail with subject "HELP" to:fordtrucks-request Comments and suggestions are welcome, use: kpayne ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 20 May 1997 12:05:11 -0500 From: Mike Schwall To: fordtrucks Subject: Re: Scanner Message-Id: Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" At 09:26 AM 5/20/97 -0400, you wrote: >If anyone could volunteer scanning services it would be greatly appreciated. >I've had at least 4 people ask this in the past week. The heat is boling the oil in the filte blocking air. You could find a breather of of an old car and put an air pick up tub for fresh outside air. does any body agree.
