I'm sure there are long, complicated ways to handle rust. My own experience is that if you ever decide to use a rust converter (not remover - converter) the ONE that really works the best is liquid Extend. I've rescued many metal objects using Extend as the base coat (followed by primer and paint) and Extend works better than anything. It can be sanded wet or dry with silicon carbide. I haven't tried to put a show coat of paint on after it though, you'll have to ask someone with more experience in that area if that's where the redo is going. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 20 Apr 1997 02:41:08 -0400 (EDT) From: FOMOCONUT To: fordtrucks Subject: Re: It can't be said enough, Thank you Ken! I feel lucky to have found this list and have a great feel for the job Ken has done already. From just the few letters I have read to this point I am impressed. The integrity that Ken shows by not selling out is rare if not downright exclusive. I am proud to have joined you all. Any decision that the Senior membership decides on this issue of " payment " is welcomed by me. I would like to add that if we did pay a membership...one thing we could have is a member directory of sorts.....to display our individual expertise areas and expierience. What is it? Also there is a date code on the block. Look between the sparkplugs in the center of the head for a casting#. I can narrow the size down with these #s. On the front of the manifold left front under the coil there may or may not be a metal tag. This is the engine ID tag. It will tell you the yr size and carb model. Good luck. We know the engine is a 351M and the tranny is a C6. Does anyone know how to identify the transfer case and axles(ie Dana 44 etc.). Also, how was the truck originally equipped? ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 20 Apr 1997 11:11:18 -0400 (EDT) From: UPSglen To: Fordtrucks Subject: Fwd: unsubscribe Message-ID: --------------------- Forwarded message: From: BMiller326 Reply-to: FORDTRUCKS To: FORDTRUCKS Date: 97-04-18 20:32:11 EDT please remove me from your list.. ____________________________________________________________________ Message distributed via http://www.ford-trucks.com//lc/lc.php?action=do&link=http://www.lofcom.com/ To send mail to fordtrucks, use the address: fordtrucks For help send a message with "HELP" in the body to:list-request Comments and suggestions are welcome, use: kpayne ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 20 Apr 1997 11:44:37 -0400 From: Ken Payne To: fordtrucks Subject: Re: FE blocks Message-Id: Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" At 11:39 PM 4/19/97 EDT, you wrote: >Hello all > >Without disassembling, how can I tell whether an FE block is a 352, 390, or 360? >I have heard many different things from many different people. Problem is that they may not be original heads - probably are as they last forever. Also, there may be an id tag under the coil. Since the block itself doesn't have casting number its easy to fool people but I doubt anyone is going to replace the heads to do this - unless of course it was to fool a concourse judge. >Also, does anyone know if more than one grille was offered on the 1967 F-100? There are alot of broke college students (and others) who really could save time and money by the advice they receive here - but some of them may not be able to afford to pay. How much of our membership would we lose? I'm willing to bet over half. Alot of people hang around for a month, ask a few questions, answer a few questions, lose interest and leave. But these people do contribute greatly to the content of the postings. I doubt they would have hung around at all if payment was required. Nick Finney comes to mind (unless he's rejoined - hard to tell with 475+ members), I haven't seen him around but he gave some incredibly good advice last month - had me going back to double check what I've learned on occasion. Also, how many times have you found a cool web page or other item on the internet and then you saw a price tag - were you disappointed?
