I am want to know how they drive, smooth, problems in rain or anything like that. I am not to concerned about noise, as my exhaust > will drown it out. I would like to run 33x12.50s but I think I will just run 31s because of power. I know it will hurt my takeout and fun levels so I will just go with the 31s. Also how long do they wear? I know I am not going to get 40,000+ but just a ballpark figure. Thanks Derrick Davis 93 f-150 4x4, sc, badass 5.8 BTW I just lifted the front with a set of Moog performance variable rate springs. They are the heavy duty supercab model from Oreillys. The ride is simply AMAZING!! Soft over bumbs but when the pounding comes on the firm up immidiatly whereas not to bottom out and bounce around. However my allingment is way off now, tires bow out at the top, but I am going to put the allignment shims in and I think everything will be fine then ------------------------------ From: Greg Carter Subject: Re: Super Swampers Date: Mon, 24 Apr 2000 09:16:54 -0400 Hi, I run 35" SSR. If you are worried about rain I would stay away from the Thornbirds. The SSRs have the sipes for wet weather traction. They wear horribly when compared to any 'regular' tire or BFG MT. However their mud and rock traction is awesome! They are very soft which helps with traction but makes for a very short tread life. I only use my truck for off-road/hardware store/dump runs, so I only put about 5000 km (not miles) a year on the truck. After a year the rear have about 3/4 left, front are doing fine. I have decreased my rear pressure to about 30 psi from 32 to prolong the tread life for street driving. In front I run 35 psi. If you do a lot of street driving I wouldn't expect to get past 15k miles, with 10k being more realistic. What gearing do you have? 33" shouldn't be too bad especially with the 5.8l. If you know what your gearing (as well as the trans OD gearing) is you can use these formulas to figure out your rpm/speed with different tire > sizes. Bye. RPM = 334.2 x transmission ratio x axle ratio x mph / tire diameter mph = RPM x tire diameter / (334.2 x transmission ratio x axle ratio) Greg Carter Entrust Technologies - http://www.ford-trucks.com//lc/lc.php?action=do&link=http://www.entrust.com http://www.ford-trucks.com/articles/buildup/dana60.html -----Original Message----- From: Ezekial [mailto:ezekial Sent: Monday, April 24, 2000 1:50 AM To: offroad-list Subject: [offroad-list] Super Swampers I am wondering if anyone in here has ran the Thornbirds and/or TSL SSRs on a truck.
