I was going to say you boiled the brake fluid, but if the lower lines
were not hot, I don't know. Maybe the lower lines being rubber were not
hot to the touch. Brake fluid absorbs water and then boils easily. I
would totally flush it first (after you fix any trashed parts).

You might have cracked a line which with pressure pumped fluid on the hot exhaust

bottom ones. Hope this helps.....................................

I wouldn't 'expect' that to be the case, nothing there to really generate any
heat that I can think of.

> >The flexible

Just how far from the exhaust manifold (header?) are the lines? Slogging
around in the mud and power braking would get the manifold pretty darn hot
(think of a picture showing an engine during a dyno run.. nice red hot exhaust > usually.) Add in the slow speed involved for lack of airflow underhood and
maybe you've got the cause. I'd expect the master cylinder to be toast after
this too, but that's an educated guess based on the above speculation.

That's a lot to stop with crappy brakes! I'm glad I wasn't in front of you.

Amen to the flushing OX. It's an interesting question for sure and I know I'm
waiting to find out what did happen.

Anybody know if the newer 80's C4 transmissions in 4X4's have the same
output shaft for the transfer case as the early Bronco's?

Many of the people with ford-trucks.com or ford-trucks.net accounts
are either not checking their mail or in the case of ".com" addresses,
not having their mail software delete the messages after retrieval.

This situation is getting out of control, with half the mail queue
space being taken up by mail 3-9 weeks old. This weekend, I will be
installing software that will delete all mail over 3 weeks old. FTE
is not meant for online
storage of mail.

Hey I'm from california and it looks like I'm going to be in albuquerque,
NM for a little while for business. Is anyone from the list living in that
area?? Would be cool to have a little get together, maybe have lunch or
so & kick some tires, go sight seeing whatever.. It's my first time going
over there!

A "Nascar Craftsman Truck Series" forum has been added to
the web site message boards. In addition being a place for
you to discuss the races, I'll also be posting Ford truck
series press releases there.
