Yeah, it impedes the motion. Actually, I can't even connect it in the first
place. The drivetrain I believe is original. Well... NP205 and auto C-6.

Hi Ox,

Hmmm... In stock form they can be a little bit sluggish. Was that the 2.8 or the
2.9? When you blew the engine by getting it water logged, how did you relocate
the air intake so that that didn't happen anymore?

I am in great favor of the 2.9. I love it to death and would buy another when
this one dies.

This friday I have a half day off, and I will be changing the oil in the new
diffs from conventional to Red Line 75W90. I'm eager to see what $8 a quart
actually buys me.

Some dope stole the Jerry can, and lock from the spare tire rack last week. I
have yet to replace it, so I think that I better not try any long trips here for
a while. Don't want to get stuck just because I am used to having that with me.

I think that they have enough grunt for their size. You're right, they can't tow
much, in fact mine would never tow anything. The transmission is just to small,
and to fragile. I have always felt that they have enough power for being that
small. I doctored mine with headers, injectors, a chip, MSD, other crap ETC.

I have BFG 31x10.5 x 5 on mine, and the ride is so stiff, you need to be casual
when you are flying down the highway. I love the JD products a lot. I am using
their body lift on their suspension lift, on their dual shock mounts, traction
bars, axle trusses, etc. I would like to get one of their winch bumpers, but
don't know where I could stick the hi lift on it.

For now it will be working the air compressor in the body. I have mounted it
behind the driver's seat. It'll be noisy there, but how often will I be driving
with it running? If anything, it will be running while I am stopped, airing up
the tires, or blowing something off on the trail. The electrical wiring is giving
me heck right now, though. How much more stuff can the good old Interstate take?

2.9, 88

I got a large flex inlet tube from an old Chrysler and yanked the air
inlet tube that goes under the battery and to the grill. If I remember
right, the tube had a wire insert, so I bent it in a square shape and
put it in the airbox inlet. Then I siliconed it good there. The inlet
end of tube ended up pointing down between the battery and the air box.
Bad thing about it is you pick up hot air for the motor in the summer.

Just don't use MTL for anything. I fried a gearbox using that crap, it
is too light, even for trannies that recommend trans fluid.

Man, that bites :-(

Yeah, that would suck, while we are on the subject, where is a good
place to pick up the cans and mounts. They have them at my local pep
boys, but I figure someone prob makes a better one for the same or less
money. I'm going to need them for my trips to Pa. and Co. this summer.

With the stock tires, yes, but when I went to 31's, it was slow (0-60 in
12+)

You're right, they can't tow

I did tow my 5000 lb boat several times, but even with the stock 205
tires and 4.56 gears, it was not happy about it. I will say this, it did
it without blowing up. I used to love engaging 4WD at 80 and listening
to those auto hubs go CLUNK!!! :-) I never managed to blow them up
either, just got water in them and had to rebuild them.

I'm sure that made a huge difference. I took the ugly way out and
bought an S-10 blazer. It was quick, but GM's trucks are TOTAL POS. I've
come back from the dark side and now have a 95, F250 with a 460 (and my
4 broncos).

I ended up solving part of that with really soft shocks, what a huge
difference they made. Even better offroad. I had RS9000's at first, but
they were like rocks.

I'm pretty sure I managed to fit a full size bat in mine (heck maybe
my memory is on drugs :-)). I had about 500W of stereo, full factory
power stuff and 3 offroad lights and never really had any problems.

I need to find out the tow capacity of my truck. It is a '89 F250 4x4 w/
5.0L, Mazda 5 speed OD, and 3.55 gears. If anybody knows where I can find
this info, or if someone has this info, please email me back (offlist,
unless you think this will beefit others).

Thank You.

Subject: Re: F350 Shackle Flip

A friend of mine was thinking of doing a shackle flip on the rear end on
his truck. But since he tows and hauls a lot, he was told this wouldn't be a
good idea by a few people. They said that the shackles were a lot stronger
in tension, and would probably break a lot more often when towing or hauling
if they were flipped. Is there any truth to this? I also was thinking of
doing it, but I tow and haul a lot also, and I definately don't need
suspension parts breaking. What do you guys think of this?

Oh, so it's just the angle that that 8" lift is putting it at then.....
