My new toy is a 1988 F-350 crew cab, 4x4, with the EFI 460 and a 5spd, planing on a shackle reversal in the front with some 2 inch lift springs and a shackle flip in the back to match up height with the front, is there anything special to know about doing these? Can i use the original shackle hangers on the truck or should i fab some up, how about just welding a brace into the originals? Thanks Tom ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 19 Mar 2000 20:58:07 -0500 From: Ken Payne Subject: ADMIN: WOW! We've added the archive search, updated message board software (if you haven't been by the message boards on the web site lately, you're missing a large and rapidly growing community) and free web based mail so far in March. We've got a few more items upcoming in the next two weeks. Thank you to everyone for making us a success! Knock on wood, I have never gotten mine stuck to the point where I had to uncoil the winch, or get out the tow ropes. (Now that I say this, I am certain that on my next run, both will happen on multiple occasions) I have been working on where I should install the 2.5 gallon air tank for the compressor. I think It will go back in front of the gas tank., with a hose connecting it to the compressor behing the driver's seat. There will be a hose that goes out to the back bumper, or the front, which ever is the easiest routing. Biggest problem now is that there are already SO many elecrical connections on that battery, and I have yet to install the second Optima red top in it's own little black Summit box, behind the passenger seat. The compressor should go there, but I am eager to hook it up and play! Will let everyone know how it goes. My auto tranny, with 87,000 miles, decided it didn't like overdrive and chewed the thing up. If I was cruising in overdrive and needed to punch down to pass someone or get out of a tight spot, it would sometimes 'miss' the downshift and go into what seemed like neutral. After I ran 2 red lights and about got hit head on for trying to pass someone, I figured it was time to bite the bullet and get it fixed. Total cost was about $950 which included a total rebuild of the tranny and replacement of the torque converter. Now the vehicle runs fine except for the length of time it takes to shift out of first gear of a....
