If it is a Dana 44 then somebody has swapped one in for ya. And yes, a locker was an OPTION on an '88 BII (actually, its limited slip, but close to the same). But in '88, a limited slip in a 7.5 was pretty rare. Just about all the new 4WD trucks with the 8.8 rear ends are limited slip. They're pretty easy to find. If you want a limited slip rear, it would be about as cost effective to swap in an 8.8 out of a newer Ranger. Instead of putting a locker in your current rear end. It would be stronger also of course. You don't sound like you know a bunch about trucks, or at least rear ends anyway (not that that's bad, we are all here to learn about our Ford trucks). So, in case you were wondering, a limited slip is a clutch mechanism in the rear axle to keep both tires turning at the same rate, but when you go around the corner with it, the clutch allows the outside wheel to turn farther, but if you stomp on the gas it will lock the axles again and give ya that nice fish tail as you finish your corner. A differential is simply a rear end without any kind of locker, just plain old spider gears, so this will give you those amazing "one-wheeled-wonders". Hope this helps. -Brian Sack ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 08 Mar 2000 19:50:03 -0800 From: Adam McLaughlin Subject: Re: BII rear end Hmm... My bronco 2 came stock with 3.45 gears and LS on the rear end. My dad's 2 wheel drive Range came with a LS rear end and 3.45 gears too. Both of these came out in 1988. I verified this by lifting the rear ends, and spinning one tire, while watching the other tire spin in the same direction.
