He wanted to tell me he's gotten the fix from Ford, actually 4 fixes depending on the size of the crack, and he needs me to bring the truck by to measure the cracks so he can order the appropriate parts. I'm taking it in 1st thing Monday morning to find out what the "cure" is. I'll try to get a description of the "Four Fixes" before I leave. I've hear one is to replace the door (with a new design) and one is to install wedges in the door (if the crack has not initiated yet). I'm interested to see what the other two are. This is the 3rd year in a row that we go. We all own/lease 97+ F-150 4x4s but we would welcome any Ford owner. The dunes are excellent for beginners as the sand is soft and we do not do crazy things with our trucks. We have to drive them home. For me that is a 4 hour trip. For info on the Dunes check out http://www.ford-trucks.com//lc/lc.php?action=do&link=http://www.Oceana.net/Oceana/sanddunes.html As the date nears I will post more info about it. I have a 91 F150, but I don't wheel that, yet... I just rebuilt the engine and trans (302/AOD) But I do have a wrangler. Will be looking forward to seing you there. Where are you coming in from? What engine do you have in your pickup? I am a mechanic at a Ford Dealership in Grand Haven, Mi. (It's on the way to S.Lake) I'm just kinda curious what kinda luck you had with your truck up in the dunes. Thanks for the reply? :) CYA -YJTrendsetter __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Get email at your own domain with Yahoo! What causes them? I've not seen a 'notorious' problem with these... I'm a mechanic at a Ford Dealer... the only posisbility I can see is the crack coming from sombody 'adjusting' the door gap... please reply.. One of the bunch lives in Holland and meets us in Muskegon. I take I96 to Muskegon then US31 North to the dunes. I have a 4.6 SC with 4.6 and 5 speed. I should be able to do Test hill backwards in 2wd if the clutch holds. ;) No broken parts on this truck in the dunes at least. I bent the frame twice on my 97. :( Regards Jean Marc Chartier 00 F-150 XLT SC Flairside 4x4 4.6 w/5spd 3.55LSD Warn XD9000i, skid plates, Draw tite class III, Rancho RSX Reflex shocks, MAC 8.8 Axle Girdle BFG 285/75 R16 MTs, Borla Cat Back, Headman Headers, Custom air intake system with modified air box, Ported Throttle body, Shortened MAF sensor tower, K&N air filter, Superchips :) ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 24 Feb 2001 11:39:34 -0500 From: Jean Marc Chartier <jmc.chartier Subject: Re: Door Crack Update Greg reifsnyder wrote: > ---------------------------------------------------------- > Support FTE - Check out our store: > http://www.motorhaven.com/ > ---------------------------------------------------------- > > > Got a call yesterday from my local Ford service rep. > > > > He wanted to tell me he's gotten the fix from Ford, > > actually 4 fixes > > depending on the size of the crack, and he needs me > > to bring the truck by > > to measure the cracks so he can order the > > appropriate parts. > > > What are the cracks, and where are they?
