Ken Payne Admin, Ford Truck Enthusiasts http://www.ford-trucks.com ------------------------------ From: "Ron,Marge,Ted" <rmtsadu Subject: Broken Torsion Bar Date: Thu, 8 Feb 2001 22:05:39 -0500 Hi All, I have a 98 F150 4x4 SC with 25K on it. This morning, pulled out of my parking spot and moved maybe 3 feet when all of a sudden, my drivers side front torsion bar just snapped! Made a sound like a gun going off. Really took me by surprise as I was only going maybe 2 MPH on smooth road when it let loose. My concern is that if this broke practically sitting there, then how reliable is the one on the passenger side? I hate to think what could have happened if it broke while going 60 MPH down the road. I would like new torsion bars on both sides but my dealer says Ford will only replace the defective one under warranty. Anyone have any experience with their torsion bars? Thanks for any input.
