I own a 99 Ranger which has had a problem from day 1. The engine has spark knock. It has been in the shop over 15 times and Ford has replace almost every emission component. I bought the extended warranty so all parts were covered both by the standard and extended. The truck still has the problem and Ford basically refuses to fix it. They did however extend my warranty to cover 5 years 100K miles. (Go figure, they say there is nothing wrong yet they up my warranty) >> Is there a lemon law in your state? If I remember correctly, Ford gets three cracks at fixing the problem, then they are supposed to give you a new vehicle if the problem can't be fixed. Of course, I'd give them a reasonable amount of time as long as they are trying to fix it. Since your problem does not seem fixable, maybe the only cure for your problem is a new engine. Possibly you should demand that or go to court at this point! Russ ------------------------------ From: "Watkins, Robert (GEP)" <Robert.Watkins Subject: 5.4 Mileage and Tires Date: Mon, 28 Aug 2000 14:50:08 -0400 Hi Everyone, I just moved up from the 80-96 list where I have been for the past 2.5 years. I just sold my 1987 F150 for a 1997 F150 XLT Supercab with the 5.4 and towing package (3.55 Rear). Two Questions: *What kind of gas mileage has everyone with this set-up been getting? (I'm sure this topic has come up previously a quick search of the archives didn't turn anything up) *Also, what was the original tire size for this setup(16" rims)? Right now the truck has 235/70 R16 tires and I am getting around 12 mpg (about 9 while towing my boat). Thanks, and I look forward to getting to know all of you on this list!
