Does the Superchips module remove this speed limitation?

Subject: FTE 97up - Re: F-150 vs F-250 Cost to Buy and Own

Nathan,

Thanks for the comment. The fact remains, however, an F-250SD can be bought
for about the same money as an F-150HD in Lariat trim. Also, I've been
rather amazed at how well my 1990 F-250HD SC Lariat Diesel has held it's
value on the used truck market. IMO, the F-250 is a much better buy for
towing purposes.

What is your take on LONG term depreciation between the F-150 and the F-250?

Thanks,
Butch

Don't compare 1 year depreciation on F-150 vs F-250. Due to the fact that the
Super Duty is so new, their bringing a premium used (so did the F150 when it
came out), but once the newness wears off it will be comparable. If you go
back to 1996 to compare, or compare Dodge's that's how to find out how much a
3/4ton will be worth compared to a 1/2.

a 3/4 will be worth more the a 1/2 ton, however it is usually less than
$1,000 more. I begining to think that long term neither will be the
greatest property. The market is getting so flooded with pickups that once
the fad wears off (and gas prices go up) the trucks are going to get cheap.
Sport utilitys have already started. Late model sport utilitys aren't
bringing anywhere near book prices and are still droping. I expect trucks
to do the same in a few years.

I have the Consumer Reports sheets on the new SuperCrew, and I don't see the
7700 lbs GVWR in the option sheet. The highest I see is the 6750 lbs GVWR,
if this is correct.

I've sold a lot of superchips and the new ones do eliminate the speed
limiter. We've had one truck up to 110 MPH (calculated) and it was still
climing.

I think so? The HyperTech PowerProgramer-III does also, along with
reseting the shift-points in the trany and other things

Nathan,

I remember you posted the price list for the SuperCrew F150 while back, are the prices
still the same or did they change? Also, Could you let us know when do they set a
delivery time.

Thanks.

Things havn't changed yet. I'm not sure on delivery times, prodution was
supposed to start mid Dec and didn't start untill January. Also the first
of the vehicles will probably get held for inspection meaning nothing
usually ships until about 3 weeks after production starts. And if its
anything like the Focus or 1999 Windstar launch, you might not see trucks
for 3 months.
After production gets started, I expect a inital back-log, but then they
should be readily available as Supercrew is going to account for 30% of
F-150 production.

Hehehehee.... Here's one for ya'

I've had my blown (Vortech Supercharged) and Superchipped 7.5 Liter
Crewcab Dually up over 124mph (estimated by a GPS receiver). And
I say "up over" because I was slowing down after seeing Local Authorities
on the side of the highway.

If your familiar with "Gear Vendors Under/Overdrive" units, these also fool
the PCM. If I use my overdrive unit with no Superchip installed, there should
be a governor. But I simply leave my truck in overdrive and then engage
my Gear Vendors Overdrive... this puts the truck in ultra overdrive. If I'm
doing
90... I'm turning about 2100 RPMs. And being I've had the RPM up to 3500,
this will tell you I was hauling some butt. AND on my 105MPH rated tires.
But remember.... those 105 rated tires are a sustained speed rating. Not a
short burst rating. Then again... who can sustain over 105 on any normal
highway?!

This brings this whole email thread question... I received a citation from
a state
trooper. He clocked me at 107. Wrote me for Reckless Driving. Oddly... I am
looking to fight this being I have a top speed governor on my truck. Heck, the
judge doesn't know about my Superchip or the use of my Gear Vendors Overdrive.
And thus it makes the officers testimony null.

SO HELP ME OUT..... Where's this evidence of a "TOP SPEED GOVERNOR" I'm
looking for?

Hehehehe... Keep it safe,
John

Well, I sustained 155+ for about 10 minutes, although that was in a '99
Camaro SS with Eagle F-1s (Z-rated). It's amazing closing on cars at three
times the legal speed limit (although highly dangerous.) Kids, do not try
this at home!

Nathan, do you think that the SuperCrew will be that popular? Do you expect
a resale value better than the extended cab F150? Finally, who (what market
segment) do you see buying the SuperCrew? It seems to fit between the
Expedition and the F150s.

Does anyone know if the Premium Sport Appearance Package is available with
the Deep Wedgewood Blue exterior color? The dealer I went to and the Ford

"u-build-it" web site. The brochure only lists white, silver, black, or
laser red avail with the Premium pkg. I was hoping for a small loophole

I expect it to really hurt full size SUV's due to pricing. Most of the
buyers will be "car" buyers as opposed to the traditional truck buyers that
will continue to buy long box trucks. I expect the Supercrew to be
extremely popular. Compare prices of an Supercab Ford to a Chevy and you'll
find the Ford is much cheaper. Then throw the Supercrew in the mix and
you'll find it's not much more money than a Chevy Extended cab so we'll have
them on both sides.

OK, so you want us to help you beat a ticket you admit you earned. You
want to document the governor function, but neglect to inform them of your
installation of a kit to cut it out.
Do you understand what you are doing? It's called 'Obstruction of
Justice', most of the time that is a FELONY. Then you want us to help you,
that's called 'An Accessory to Obstruction of Justice', which can also be a
FELONY.
Also, the Stater will probably know about the governor function, they
tend to be car nuts and well informed. They would know about kits to
override that function.

I suggest you forget the entire thing and pay the fine. A felony
conviction would be reported to the INS and you would be headed home, never
to return.(Assuming you are a Swedish citizen working in the USA for
Erickson, like your address suggested). Other wise you could just end up in
jail (and probably lose your job)

The Brochure is correct. Don't trust the u-build-it, because I know who
built the u-build-it. Anyway, if you want the color keyed bumpers (about
the only difference, aside from the damn cheezy sport sticker), do what I
did on my Lariat. Have the dealer work a couple of non chrome bumpers
(~$500 for the set) into the deal and have a body shop paint them to match.
DON'T paint the stock chrome bumper, the paint wont hold. Yes, you do a
little leg work here, but you get what you want.

Thanks for the info guys. Joe, I should have specified this was concerning
an Expedition. I like the Premium Sport Pkg because it comes with 17"
wheels, wheel lip moldings, and side step bars, as compared to a regular XLT
with running boards and no moldings.

Hey Ralph... Since you want to live other people lives... like mine. Read on.

Oddly enough... My Superchip was not installed, but had been sent back to
Superchip for recalibration. So where is this wrong? Huh smartypants?!

Ok... so you wanna be an attorney. Seems one A-hole to another. But maybe
your a nice guy. Who knows. It seems you've never stolen anything, never
jaywalked, ran a red light, sped down the road... I'm sure you get the point.

That Yahoo that wrote me the ticket was not going to know of any motor
part or kit. He didn't even know what my plate meant. And for the most
of us... it's pretty easy.

First off... Your assuming. Never assume. It's a waste of your time and
especially
MINE!! Considering my email, it has nothing to do with my email thread. In
fact,
it has nothing to do with YOU. NOR does my job have anything to do with this
mail or my ticket. I think it would be best you just keep to yourself on
this one or
go help the guy who needs to know about his flux capacitor that went out.

> Ya right, you have a ticket for Reckless Driving, that you want help to

Even Mario Andretti can tell you to be safe. But then again, who would you be
to tell Mr. Andretti how to be. For that matter.... me.

I should have just trimmed your whole response to my mail... that would be
trimming the "unneeded crap"

And for your knowledge.. I'm sure your just even more peeved when I tow my
10k pound trailer passed you on the grade.... at 75MPH.... oh... I'm
sorry... that's
not safe. For that.. I'll never do it again "DAD"!!

Heheheheh... Lighten up.

I don't think a K&N or the Air Tornado will net you much in the way of
measurable increases, but I do likethe K7N filters because the bottom line is
they let more air into the motor. The elements allow air to pass more
smoothly and freely thru. The Air Tornado system causes turbulence. It's
their premise that this turbulent air is more effective in heling with teh
aspiration of the engine. If you looka t what they each claim to do, K&N
and Air Tornado are at the opposite end of the argument. One smooths out the
air flow, the other causes turbulence. I don't know if it makes one bit of
difference, but I spoke to a performance specialist about this a couple
years ago, and he said go with the K&N and do not combine the two.

Just passing on what I was told.
