four months ago. Seems to me is was a '66 styleside with a boss 429 Mustang on a

interested.

Wow, I just talked to a friend of mine last night that mentioned he also
found one of these at a swap meet. He collects them and got the truck only
and wanted to know if I had any idea what it was supposed to tow. Now I
can tell him and sound oh so smart. Thanks!

There is a couple on my local parts counter that I saw today.  I looked
into it since I was there and it was a promotion from 95 or 96 and has
since expired.  There is a couple of trucks left and they are $14.95
plus tax.  They are the high quality Ertl's as you have stated.  If
anyone comes accross with the car and trailer let us know.

Does anyone know the resistance per foot on the Accel 300+ race wire? I am
thinking about converting from the stock Duraspark ignition to the Accell
300+ ignition and coil. What would be the best plug wire for this setup?
Is the 300+ race wire the one to go with?

Thanks for the help,

I am not presently looking for a replacement engine. this truck and
engine were used by me from age 15 up untill I went into the Navy in 74.
The truck has not ran or been used since then, I am starting a
restoration on this truck with my youngest son, I am intending on using
the same engine, which is why I am seeking information about it. The
glove box information plate reads as follows: (top line) F1d2sp14293

The data plate had been sprayed silver and only the raised stamped

I would appreciate it. thanks. L.D.

Original post at the end of this one -

I wish my truck had the family history that some of you guys' trucks have!
Anyway - your rating plate info translates as follows, from Cars and Parts
Magazine's Ford Truck ID Numbers, 1946-1972.
F1 - half ton
D - 215 cid 6cylinder
2 - 1952
SP - Twin City (St. Paul) MN
14293 - sequential number
4700 - Max. G.V.W. LBS.
114 - W.B. (wheelbase)
91 - certified net horsepower
3400 - at RPM
3HD - 3 speed Heavy Duty ( I think that's a floor shift)
3.92 - rear gear ratio
data missing - color code
18F8956B - production code. Built June 18, 1952 (first three, 18F) - I don't
know what the rest of the code means. The book says 'The production code
indicates the day of the month (18), the month (F=June of the first year) and
the truck produced. I don't know what 'the truck produced' really means.

Rating plate net horsepower and advertised horsepower are two different
things, so the other post about 100+ hp may be correct for the advertised hp.

At least with my '51 pickup/'40 Ford Set, the instructions and order form
came with the pickup- although they wanted you to use the proofs of purchase,
you could just pay additional cash to get the trailer and race car. No
tellin' whether Ertl has any left, however.

I talked to the guy at the parts store and he still has some. He said the sales
rep told him that even though the promotion is expired, they will continue to
send out the trailer/car and honor the coupons. He also mentioned that he had
seen them honor other promotions a year or more after the expiration date.

So, I guess if anyone is interested they can be found. I found at least three
without even trying. I may have to buy one.

Links to several types of sites are on our pages and it might be

What still doesn't look right to me is the 7 lug hubcaps on the 3/4 ton
trucks. There was one in the parking lot that I noticed. Did Ford
start using the 7 lug wheels on the 97 3/4 ton or is just the hub cap
only have the 7 lug designe?

about time to pull the pumpkin out and rebuild it.

Has anyone out there done this lately?

I'm a little curious about prices and availability of the parts. (bearings,

Any special tools required to set it up correctly on reassembly?

Words of wisdom/advise/trick tips/etc?

Was wondering if anyone out there in Ford Truck land has an opinion on headers vs stock
exhaust manifolds? I have a 1967 Ford F250 4x4 stripped down to the frame and am
getting ready to put a 390 back in it and I am trying to decide if to go with headers or
stock manifods. It has a Ford 4-barrel manifold with a 600 Holley, other wise pretty
much stock. Also, does anyone know of a stock OEM Ford headers that might be available
for the 390?

Thanks for any info??

Andy: Unless your running the 427 Galaxie stock exhaust manifolds,
headers would be a better bet over the stock 390 exhaust manifolds. The
engine will breathe better and thus you might feel a slight increase in
power.

I know someone with a truck like yours with a 427 with those manifolds
and they are awesome.

Good luck!

Andy: I forgot to mention, Hooker makes a header for your truck part
number 6905.

I'm sorry guys,
I know I am going to get seared for this, but the new Fords look
like a Toy*ta in my eyes, and I just think it looks, for lack of any other
words -"icky". I am so eloquent!:~)
I know some folks really dig the new design, but I guess I like
the '70's design, but then again, it took about 3 years for the last Ford
P-u body style to grow on me.

Andy: Forgot to mention Hooker headers sells a header for the 67 F250
4X4. If this is the stock engine, then Part number 6905 will get you a
set of headers for your truck.

Thanks!

Do you think they will fit a 63 with a transplanted 390? Current
hedders are leaky and interfear with the front drive shaft. I am also
thinking of adding an Edelbrock Performer intake and going down to a 600
or 650 Edelbrock carb. Any thoughts on this combo?
